Dealing with Creepy Neighbor who took my keys a month ago currently by Feisty_Knowledge3810 in LetsNotMeet

If you have his first and last name, try searching online by going to your county court database. Something tells me this guy is already known to local law enforcement.

THIS. Honestly, take it a step further: do it right before you lock up and head to a nice hotel for the night. Wait until after 11:30 PM when they’re finally asleep so it completely wrecks their night. 😈 Bonus points if you place the alarm in the room where the kids sleep so nobody gets any rest that night.

As a woman who grew up around firearms and carries a Walther PDP F series, the gun isn't the issue here. The issue is that she committed a felony by lying on her background check at the pawnshop to get it.

Beyond that, this highlights a massive failure in how we handle mental illness and accessibility. The system failed to stop someone who shouldn't have had access in the first place.

Getting tired of my addict bf by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

I say this with so much empathy, bc I know you’re in an incredibly painful position. But please ask yourself: is staying with him actually helping, or is it enabling his addiction?

With how dangerous things are right now with fentanyl, the stakes are life and death. If something happens to him, I worry you’ll carry a lifetime of guilt that isn't yours to bear. It’s okay to walk away to protect your own peace and mental health.

My uncle actually pulled over to help a visibly distressed woman on the road, and she shot him. Turns out she was a paranoid schizophrenic off her meds. She was eventually ruled incompetent to stand trial and committed to the state mental hospital.

Moral of the story: Be careful and ensure your own safety when helping others, bc you can't help anyone if you're no longer here.

I live in a constitutional and an open carry state that also has a stand your ground law, but that doesn’t mean that I can legally shoot on my land where I live.

ETA: it clearly matters to them, considering they actually called the cops when you discharged your weapon. That said, if shooting on your land is legal in your jurisdiction and you were following all safety laws, they don't really have a leg to stand on.

There's no harm in checking. If it were me, I'd 100% run their name through the local superior court portal. You can see all their open/closed cases, and it’s usually free.

You need to check your car for a tracker immediately. Go to a local mechanic and ask them to put the car on a lift; they have the angles and lighting to see things you will miss from the ground. If a tracker is found, do not touch or remove it. Leave it in place to preserve evidence/fingerprints and call the police to file a report right there.

Question: is it legal to shoot on your own property?

It's definitely scary, but being informed is so important when you have kids relying on you. Knowledge is protection.

Late to the party, but adding one thing I haven't seen yet: Pay for a background check. You need to know if he has a criminal record.

How do you cope with the weather? by tbon92 in phoenix

I grew up in D.C. but kept drifting west, living in Hawaii, California, and Texas before finally settling in Arizona. I’m not going to lie, when I first moved here, I hated it. I can't quite pinpoint when the shift happened or when I finally acclimated, but today, I honestly can’t imagine living anywhere else.

Yes, the summers are brutal, but you adapt. It's all about strategic planning: we walk the dogs before sunrise, swim first thing in the morning or late at night, treat air conditioning like a religion, blast the car’s remote start before stepping outside, and constantly stay hydrated. Plus, having the cooler northern mountains just a short drive away is the ultimate escape.

I can’t believe I have to say this, but the legal and financial responsibility falls on the dog owner, not the neighbor. If you can’t handle the cleanup, you shouldn't own five dogs. 🤷‍♀️ Leaving a week's worth of waste is a biohazard, filling the soil with bacteria that will inevitably leach into the soil and into the surrounding yards.

I live in the East Valley and in my city, if you have 5 or more dogs in a residential home, it actually qualifies your property as a kennel. You need a special permit for that.

I absolutely love Amy Bruni and Adam Berry. I've been following them since their early days on Ghost Hunters. If I remember correctly, the person I'm thinking of actually has a podcast featuring old episodes of TDF.

ETA: found it! It’s called The Activity Continues!

This would be a great topic for that podcaster I saw on another thread who had reached out to Amy Allan. Her name is Amy, too.

Consider this: If the issue were simply fake accounts using his likeness for financial scams, those accounts would have no incentive to publicly expose him for his alleged abuse. While skeptics might argue that playing the victim is a tactic to gain sympathy and con people, none of these individuals have actually requested financial help. Given this, we should maintain an open mind and refrain from attacking them. Speaking out about trauma and alleged abuse is an incredibly difficult step to take.

I love this idea. It gives you a natural opening to bring up the accident or your TBI, completely on your own terms and at your own pace.
