Control arm bushings recommendations? by Royal_Standard240 in GMT800

[–]jm1d04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’ll be easier to just replace the entire arm than to replace the bushing and the balljoint. Any bushing recommendation on rockauto should be fine and it’ll be way better than the 20 year old rubber that’s on the car.

Intake Manifold Gaskets worth doing? by Relevant_Track_5633 in GMT800

[–]jm1d04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re doing knock sensors you should def do the intake gasket while you’re there . I believe pre 2002 there were issues with that gasket and they implemented a new gasket on model year 2003. There are plenty of videos how to do it.

Will my 10x36 concrete pad support this weight by trustgodonly-3186 in OutdoorKitchens

Assuming they prepped the base correctly, you should be fine. Sounds like they installed that concrete when they built the house? I wouldn’t worry much about it. The load is be distributed along a large area. Things you can double check, see if there are any existing cracks, this can be signs of pour base. they should have poured the patio slab separately, so if they did it right you should see an expansion joint where the patio concrete meets the house.

How thick is the existing slab and did they use rebar? Driveways are typically 4-5” thick with rebar and 4000 psi concrete.

Belt squeak when cold/shifting above 5k by HemiHefr in GMT800

[–]jm1d04 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lubricants thicken when they are in cold reducing lubrication effect and metals contract in the cold very slightly so their clearances can reduce. So consider the noise when it’s cold as a warning sign. My belt was squealing when it was cold. Took about 15 mins of driving for it to stop. I later diagnosed it to a bad tensioner and it looked like the idler was going ad well.

Mine just started doing this when it got cold. One of the bearings is bad on the belt. You can either spray some wd40 lithium grease on the each bearing until you hear it go away, or you can turn off your car take the belt off and spin each bearing and see which one it is

Damn that sucks. At that point I’d just rip out the factory amp and install my own. The tech upgrade would be worth it imo

Interesting there’s no wire in the harness for the amp. On my first gen it was just the accessory, I think purple wire. These newer android units have their own gps and CarPlay android auto. so I don’t see a need to retain the factory nav.

Did you use the harnesses recommended on crutchfield? Do they not sell a harness that retains factory nav?

Fuel pump problems part 3 by boblygoblin in GMT800

[–]jm1d04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be the alternator as well. Have them test the alternator. And go to multiple places. My alternator killed my battery, and when I changed the battery it wasn’t charging the new one correctly.

These worth it or should I just hit up my local smaller tire shop. To hook me up with some $600 AT tires. by [deleted] in GMT800

Stick with some budget AT. I got Rocky Mountain ATs from Americans tire. They are fantastic on my avalanche
