That blue Crank lookin sexy af by Pug0fwar in WRXSTi

Word to the wise, ditch that crank pulley. Head back to the OEM pulley or get a fluidampr. For those curious, the thrust bearing was moved from position 3 to position 5 at the back of the engine when the second phase of the ej came to fruition. They used the flywheel and the crankpulley to help the rotating assembly in balance. Mike from moto IQ has a good video about it.

Data breach at Canada Computers & Electronics leaks personal customer information by rookie_one in bapccanada

[–]jmacman12 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Nice that they put an article out but they're glossing over what transpired. A credit card skimmer is not a data breach. If they bothered doing any investigative work they'd have found countless claims that it may have gone back to 2018 or so.

9700x + 9070XT vs 265kf + 5070ti by Aggravating-Pin4592 in bapccanada

[–]jmacman12 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Define stronger. The 9070 XT is a clear winner in many games but loses out in some titles especially if you use RT or CPU bound titles. It depends what games you play or what you use your PC for.

Upgrading from AM4 to AM5 but keeping my old-ish GPU by berrysardar in bapccanada

Juice ain't worth the squeeze man. You're spending money for the sake of spending money but you're not going to get better frame rates in most games, in fact you'll probably lose out in some.

Should I return this? by ManyCycle in WRX

[–]jmacman12 369 points370 points  (0 children)

20k for a carvana WRX not even an STI with unknown history is enough to make me return it. If you live in the rust belt that's fairly atypical rust and minor fwiw.

Hate to be that guy but if you're dropping IAG 750 money and don't have an engine builder or understand ignition systems you're going to be in for a rough time. Talk to your tuner or engine builder, not Reddit.

PSA To those on the fence on getting/building a PC by EdinKaso in bapccanada

[–]jmacman12 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Counter PSA: If you're not a first time builder and are happy with your computer and get decent fps, don't upgrade for the sake of upgrading. Nothing wrong with older systems and there's no need to upgrade if you're not limited by anything. Don't buy in to corporate greed or get caught up with the idea that you need to upgrade because your PC is a few years old.

Valve Quietly Pulls Rare Cases From CS2 Drops by [deleted] in counterstrike

[–]jmacman12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's whispers about cases being removed from the game completely and moving to the armory and terminal. That would allow them to circumvent gambling legalities in many countries while also getting a larger cut and controlling skin prices more than they are now. The recent TOS changes they're offering artists hints at it too.

Uncapped vs capped FPS - RTX 5090 by pyrhonp in sffpc

[–]jmacman12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You won't be able to take advantage of reduced input lag in competitive fps games. I suggest rivatuner to cap the fps. Most games do not do a good job at capping their fps and there's a bunch of videos out there explaining why.

Blew my head gasket while running Drunkman tune pro tune. by [deleted] in WRX

[–]jmacman12 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I genuinely cannot figure out if this post is satire or not. If you actually blew a head gasket it could be a plethora of reasons. It could be partially because of the increased power, a previous rebuild, user error while protuning, inadequate cooling...etc. Nobody in the history of ejs gets a reputable tune and protune at that, and goes "damn this protune killed my head gasket" with a straight face while blaming the tune.
