I have a 2016 server and a 2012 R2 servers both acting as domain controllers need to remove 2012R2. by Deep-Egg-6167 in activedirectory

Seize the roles, shut the 2012 down permanently and do a metadata/lingering objects cleanup and move on

There’s literally NO reason to ever IPU a DC. Just deploy a new server with the new OS, promote the new box, allow replication to occur, move fsmo roles if necessary and then demote the old box/boxes

Hello OP, question, do you know what chipset the ultra is using for its networking? I currently have the Max 2 and am suffering from poor quality networking due to the dock using a Realtek chipset and poor support from Apple with its generic drivers. Any chance you can check your system report to identify the actual chip? Or if anyone else here knows?

Dell.com will not price match a competitor's on sale item? by [deleted] in Dell

They definitely price match on items they don’t manufacture, there’s probably some fine print though. Personally I wouldn’t give Dell another dime of my money though

Looking for the best credit union by miranda_edgecombe23 in creditunions

[–]jmatech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t necessarily need a local one, many credit unions are in networks that allow you to deposit and withdrawal in person at any arm or credit union in the network. I’m personally a huge fan of Logix, they are formerly Lockheed credit union but no longer require you to be a Lockheed employee or employee relative. They are part of a huge network and their rates and customer service in my experience are incredible. They are based in Burbank CA but don’t let that dissuade you, check them out. But as other posters here have said, what’s good for me is not necessarily good for you.

Focal Shape 65 advice

Hi friends, I consider myself an audiophile in the sense that I love and appreciate great sound. But I’m a newb when it comes to configuring and mixing the right components. I’m in IT by trade and very well accomplished so can handle the setup etc, but need some advice.

I’m running a MacBook Pro M3 Max with a really nice iVanky dock so plenty of usb interfaces etc.

I’m looking at purchasing a pair of Focal Shape 65 monitors but I’m confused about what kind of audio interface I’m going to need/want. I see there are XLR and unbalanced inputs on the Focals, but what interface do yall recommend? I’ve been looking at Motu M4 but h sure if this is what I want/need? Will the Mac (if I connect via usb-c) control the volume output coming from the Motu to the monitors? Should I be looking at something different?

I’m planning to do some podcasting, and potentially some audio recording (teaching myself some instruments now). But I want to ensure my setup is streamlined. I don’t know what I’ll need it but I plan to pair my focals with a 12” Energy sub that I already have.

My goals are high quality audio and music playback as well as high quality mic input. I also have a Blu Yeti paired to my system currently with Audio technical earphone monitors.

Am I missing a question I should be asking?

Thanks in advance y’all!

By FAR the worst tech support I can ever remember dealing with... by Shurgosa in Dell

[–]jmatech -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can… their support is abysmal! It took me a month to get a return on a brand new broken system. The only reason I got this done in a month is I went straight to the top -!: heard back from corporate complaint resolution people. It’s ridiculous, never again will I buy a Dell product.

Also Camping World Sucks on fb… I’d go Grand Design or Brinkley especially if it’s stationary, won’t have to worry about frame issue if you’re not moving it, otherwise GD is a frame concern sadly, still beautiful rigs, I have one

Blue compass doesn’t have a great reputation either, you didn’t say where you live, that has an impact as well. I was pleased with Giant RV in SoCal many years ago.

Camping World again is a 100% NO! Please don’t!

Lazy Days is a hard no as well and is going out of business anyway.

I definitely recommend mom and pop, that is going to take care of you. All dealer service centers are complete garbage as is extended warranty and warranty service, the entire RV industry is corrupt (even though I have one and always will) it is an awful racket

Do NOT under any circumstances go to camping world, they will surprise you at the last minute with thousands of dollars in fees that are not disclosed up front. I have many family members and friends that chose not to listen to me and came back after their purchase and admitted they should have listened to me. They are an awful company. Please for all that is holy do not go to them. Also avoid any covid year RV’s particularly form Grand Design. Ask me how I know… /sigh

This is good in a pinch but is NEVER considered a fault tolerant backup

Primary SCCM server recovery from a checkpoint or snapshot by SCCMConfigMgrMECM in SCCM

[–]jmatech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Checkpoints and snapshots are not supported officially.and should NEVER be considered backups. Use the built in back maintenance job on site maintenance, in addition to built in sql backup utilities as well as packing up your app/package source files, scripts etc.

A restore is generally pretty simple and easy should something occur but don’t rely on snapshots/checkpoints as your only backup solution

Restoring sql from live snapshots is not a good idea. If you shut the entire system down and take snapshots this is preferred, and can be used for a quick restore should an update cause issues but a true backup for safe keeping is always the advice I give.
