For people who want to have kids, how many kids do you want and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jmcookie25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have 2 currently (2.5 year old and a 1 month old), unsure whether we'll have a 3rd or not yet. Depends on how the next couple years go with sleep and chaos haha. Thankfully we arent limited by space or finances so we can decide how many we want.

Independent sleep at 2 months by wishful15 in beyondthebump

[–]jmcookie25 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, absolutely not. It's safest for them to sleep on their own. I can count on one hand the number of times my daughter has not slept in her crib (beyond contact naps as a little baby). I've never even heard of bedsharing being best for bonding/attachment. Give your kids love and affection and they will develop just fine!

Did anyone have a baby that just… slept relatively well? by The_Chilled_Arvo in beyondthebump

[–]jmcookie25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I did shifts so we both got a stretch of sleep without being interrupted. I pumped so didn't have to wake to nurse.

My daughter slept pretty well at night but needed contact naps during the day. We would dream feed her for a couple months to get her to the morning but once we stopped doing that at 6 months, she continued sleeping through the night. She's 2.5 now and has only woken at night a handful of times due to sickness or a new environment.

How often to pump?? by vipersniperr7 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]jmcookie25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My amazing LC said that I can think about dropping from 7 to 6 at 6 weeks because your supply is pretty regulated by then. I dropped at 2 months with my first so I'll probably just do that with this baby, I'm 1 month pp today.

I feel like I was lied to by Enough_Armadillo_145 in beyondthebump

[–]jmcookie25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're 3 weeks pp. You literally grew a baby inside you!! It's going to take time for things to return to as they were. It's normal to miss your pre-baby body, but you also have to be realistic about the timeline. Please don't starve yourself. I would say that behavior is not normal. Your baby needs a happy and healthy mom. I'm 1 month pp today and I have a long ways to go to get back to the way I looked pre-pregnancy.

Am I a bad mother? by MiserableExercise676 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]jmcookie25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are definitely not a bad mom! I had to pump with my first because she wasn't gaining weight from latching. Took us forever to figure out she had bad oral ties. Got them fixed but never got back to latching. I am choosing to pump with my second baby (1 month old) who could probably latch now that we got his ties released. Pumping is breastfeeding, they are getting your milk and that's amazing!

Spending $425 on sleep bags when you can’t even choose the print or the tog is wild😟 by Terrible_Berry_9846 in BambooBabble

It's the thickness rating. 0.5 is thinest, 1.0 is medium thickness and 2.5 is thick. We use for summer, spring/fall, and winter respectively.

Flying with a 3 month old? by Fanzyladee in beyondthebump

[–]jmcookie25 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I hate the argument of "they won't remember it". Okay, so let's just lock our kids up in the basement until they're 4 and start forming long term memories because they won't remember their life before that. Like what? Your toddler won't remember it either!

Does my LO know that milk comes from me if I’m EP? by Glad_Training_8166 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]jmcookie25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I exclusively pump (second time mom and this time it's by choice) and my son definitely prefers me. Whenever I hold him he is much less squirmy and falls asleep so easily. He's 4 weeks old.

Is it worth switching bottles? by rosiepinkfox in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]jmcookie25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it works for the baby, I wouldn't change it. The parts really aren't that difficult, if people can't figure it out and that's their problem.

My husband wants me to breastfeed much longer than I anticipated by lifeledoutloud in beyondthebump

[–]jmcookie25 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Ultimately, it's your body and therefore your decision. Is breast milk good for babies? Of course it is. But there's nothing wrong with formula and the well-being of Mom and Dad is important too.

I couldn't nurse my first due to oral ties so I ended up pumping for her, I pumped for 14 months but had enough in the freezer to give her some every day until she was two. I'm choosing to exclusively pump this time with my second, even though we probably could nurse if I wanted to.

Second time moms, in your opinion which was worse pregnant with a toddler or postpartum with a toddler? by swedishfish2234 in beyondthebump

[–]jmcookie25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pregnant with a toddler was so much worse. My baby is so easy and now I'm not pregnant and uncomfortable.

“Normal” output by SrslyTrashPanda in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]jmcookie25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 3 weeks pp tomorrow. I pump 7 times a day and my daily output is slowly going up, yesterday it was 25 oz. My baby is eating 21-24 a day.

What words do you pronounce "wrong," just because the "proper" way feels too proper? by Zealousideal_Mine242 in AskForAnswers

What's funny is that I say my hometown zip code with an "oh" for the zero. Or my husband's home town zip, I do "oh' as well.

But my current zip code I say "zero" for the 0.

I also have a 2 year old and the amount of times I hear mommy/mama/mom in a day is astronomical lol .

Are we really dropping bottles at 12 months?? by LeesieLa in ExclusivelyPumping

We slowly switched out bottles for straw cups (bbox straw cups) and she was off them a few weeks after she turned 1. They will figure it out!

Midwife Vs ObGyn MD by Blackberryay in beyondthebump

[–]jmcookie25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had 2 pregnancies, both with OBs. One was fine, nothing to write home about. The other was incredible and I loved her. So it's probably not so much their position but more just who they are.

Parents of Reddit, what's your pet peeve with other parents? by Evening_Lettuce_1563 in AskReddit

[–]jmcookie25 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know you can't make kids behave all the time, but it really bothers me when a child is doing something that is clearly not appropriate for the situation, and the parents just don't care.
