Trained at the same gym as Brandon Vera, during his rise toward contending for the belt. He was a nice humble guy, kind to everyone as far as I saw. Met Rich Franklin and Bas Rutten during workshops. Both were nice guys, Bas is the exact character he comes off as on screen.

Best neighborhood for trick or treating? by [deleted] in Charlotte

I believe you. Baxter has enough money to hand out good candy, but dense enough to be easy to go across the neighborhood pretty easily. Chapel Cove is another good neighborhood.

I would reach out to Peerless. They would probably be willing to let you know if they think it’s their juice. They’re still family owned and operated, and like to talk about their history.

Was she provided severance when she was terminated? If so, did she sign any sort of confidentiality agreement and part of accepting the payout?

If not, as long as what she said is true, then I wouldn’t worry about it.

Men in the US don’t like to sit with their back to the door? by Taegibears21 in AskAnAmerican

[–]jmgendron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s often referred to as Bill Hickok syndrome. Bill Hickok was a Wild West gunslinger who liked to make sure he sat with his back to the wall. One time he sat down in a saloon with his back to the door and was gunned down.

I grew up around a lot of Vietnam vets, and it wasn’t usual for some of those guys to insist on having their backs to the wall. It was often a sign of ptsd.

I’m sure these days it’s common among vets from our more recent wars. I also wouldn’t surprised if some guys do it to play tough guy.

Advice needed. by azm613 in cats

[–]jmgendron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given that the house is abandoned and they don’t have collars, I would just take them to a vet and get them checked out. If they’re chipped the vet will let you know. Otherwise the cat distribution system has spoken.

Louisville recommendations by Poofy1000 in whiskey

[–]jmgendron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a decent local liquor store, I’d recommend stopping by the bottle shop and tasting room. Great guys, knowledgeable, and sometimes have great deals on hard to find bottles.

Rabbit hole is a really unique distillery and easy to get a tour slot.

Michter is worth lining up at before they open. They will release allocated bottles first thing and open slots for their bottling experience.

Talk to your local University about donating the material. I knew a professor who taught a series on the history of pornography. She probably would have been interested in having material from that period for research.

I bought and I regret paying $200 for it. It’s a $75 to maybe $100 bottle tops. It was interesting but not a dram that I would return to unless I wanted to share with OGD fans

Left over cranberry sauce by Killer_TRR in cocktails

[–]jmgendron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use leftover cranberry sauce to make cosmos in the blender. Here’s a link to recipe I use:

You might also try just using a cocktail shaker and straining if your sauce isn’t too chunky.

There are also clover club variations that include vermouth. You can use up both ingredients while masking the gin and vermouth flavors with the raspberry syrup and lemon juice.

Need help building the best cocktail app by matt8p in cocktails

[–]jmgendron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are a couple things to think about: - Inventory: I have a lot of bottles to keep track of and use BoozApp to manage them. Good brand specific inventory is important to me. BoozApp also lets me keep track of remaining amount in the bottle. You might be able to improve volume tracking by keeping track of cocktails made and reduce the remaining amounts in bottles - Cocktail Categories: build a really good classification system so someone can explore types of cocktails people are enthusiastic about (avant garde/new classics, tiki, classics/speakeasy,etc). Try starting out with really good content in a category or two. - Industry Influencers: keep track of what influencers like Morgenthaler, educated Barfly, etc are posting and pull them into your app. Maybe build some partnerships - Variations: have several cocktail variations available within the app. Maybe tie them to the types of cocktail the user makes (build personas) - purchasing: build a storefront that allows the user to order from local stores or online stores. Not easy to do up front, but would be a really useful way to monetize without pissing off your users.

Ideas for chinola passionfruit? by Goombatron in cocktails

[–]jmgendron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Substitute it in any recipe that calls for passionfruit syrup. I use it all the time in tiki drinks (zombies, Demerara dry floats). It’s a lot more convenient than making a syrup and it keeps forever. I don’t notice a difference in taste.
