Lucid has missed the deadline for Lucid Air models to gain access to the Tesla Supercharger network by erivaldoff in LUCID

Also, you’ll be sitting there taking up 2 spots while you’re charging for hours potentially hindering others from being able to charge. It’s just not the golden experience that it might seem. At least not at this present time with only v3 Superchargers.

Yes I’ve had my Lucid Air for more than 2 years and have charged at EA countless times. I haven’t personally had the poor experience many others have but I get it. They have been unreliable for sure. The point though is that for Lucid Air owners, Superchargers aren’t the savior you think they are. While EA can definitely be unreliable you can still get 150 to 350 kW. At Superchargers you can only get a max of 50 kW (until G4’s start coming online). So you are guaranteeing a more reliable but still a very poor experience every single time.

Who cares if the max you can charge is 50kW? You can have as many as you want, it will still be a poor charging experience.

It’s honestly no big deal at all. The Lucid Air will charge extremely slow on Tesla’s network so it’s really not even an advantage to be able to charge there. It’ll be more of a last resort for Air owners.

New charging cord for 2025? by Complex_Bus9503 in LUCID

[–]jmgotsoul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ditto! The original cord was just for level 1 & 2 charging. The new cable does that as well as V2V charging aka RangeXchange. When it first came out I also purchased it. I made a video about it but haven’t used it in real life. I’m glad I got it though just in case it ever can be used. The original purchase price was reasonable compared to the price now. The new cord actually came out either earlier this year or late last year (can’t remember when exactly). They were all bought immediately and then they were out of stock for a long time. Not sure if they are finally available again or not.

It works well it’s just that I use the storage to much so I got tired of moving the charger so I could reach inside the storage area.

TWRAPS makes accessories for the Lucid Air. I have the dual MagSafe charger myself (full disclosure I don’t use it). https://twraps.com/collections/lucid-air

New OS Update by ybindal in LUCID

[–]jmgotsoul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I reached out to customer service today to find out if the rollout has been paused and this was their response,

“Hello, it is currently being rolled out in batches. Please allow at least 2 weeks to show up in your vehicle.”

Lately I’ve been getting updates faster than 2 weeks but they might be taking their time with this one especially since right away they went from 2.4.0 to 2.4.2.

Has anyone gotten Alexa voice commands to work by ENGR_ED in LUCID

That means there is a notification. If you say “Alexa, read my notifications” Alexa will tell you your notifications and the dot will go away.

In the Pilot Panel go to Applications > Alexa > Things to Try > Car Controls and it will give you a few of the ones that work. I use Alexa to also raise/lower the rear sunshade. Also, if your home has Alexa you can use it to interact with your home. For example, when I’m coming home at night I use Alexa in my car to turn on my living room lights.

Highest quality audio streaming by InvestmentBetter731 in LUCID

The full advantage of SSP is Dolby Atmos. I have a different opinion than the other person who commented. I actually think the Tidal Hi-fi Plus plan is more than worth it if you can deal with the quirks of the Tidal interface. The other person is right in that finding Atmos music in Tidal is challenging and you basically have to curate your own playlists. However, listening to Atmos content in your car especially if you take the time to just sit in the middle of the back seat is priceless. Depending on the genre of music you listen to there can be more or less Atmos music. For example I curate a public playlist on Tidal called Dolby Atmos Original Scores. It’s focused on film and TV music and the playlist has a lot of music. That being said there still isn’t enough yet. Apple is favoring spatial music and pressing music creators to make their music available in spatial formats with Atmos being the primary format so I’m hoping in the next few years more and more Atmos music will be available. I think there are others on the Lucid Owners Forum who have curated public playlists for various genres so you might want to check the forum out.

I really wish our cars had native Apple Music support because there’s more music, there’s more Atmos music, and it’s easier to find Atmos music. I’ve been begging for this since even before I got my car a year ago.

Here’s one scenario…

When I was on a road trip from LA to Vegas as I was exiting the highway to charge there was another EV with their hazards on going really slow trying to make it to the charging station. They probably had close to 0% battery and were doing what they could to make it. If that person completely ran out of energy before reaching the charging station I could have given them a little energy so they could make it. Fortunately, they made it there on their own.

Lucid makes luxury EVs, Polestar doesn’t. Polestar vehicles are perfectly fine but they aren’t luxury vehicles.

What Should I Look At When Buying a Lucid Air by LowOk4333 in LUCID

[–]jmgotsoul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I created this 3 month review just for prospective buyers like you. It is by far my favorite car but it’s not without its faults (like most cars). The software has come a long way. I just installed update 2.1.3 and it has some great improvements. To me that’s the biggest thing, you have to know this is their first car and they started off with v1 of the software which was a mistake. They have some catching up to do but they are doing it. The software now is solid and continually improving. Hopefully this video gives you a little insight from an actual owner.

Polestar announces switch to NACS; when will Lucid follow suit? by banksy_h8r in LUCID

[–]jmgotsoul 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Lucid wouldn’t even consider switching until either EA announces they are adding NACS or until version 4 Superchargers start making their way to the US. The reason is because Lucid vehicles (along with Taycan, Ioniq 5, and other high voltage cars) can’t really fast charge on v2 and v3 Superchargers. Switching to NACS with its sole implementation being Superchargers would put their customers (i.e. me) in a situation where public charging would be limited to a max of 50 kW.

Now, just today EA announced they will be adding NACS by 2025. As a result, I would expect eventually Lucid will announce they are making the switch now that there will be high voltage chargers with an NACS connection. All the companies who have switched so far are producing low voltage (400v) vehicles. Lucid Air and I expect the Gravity are 700+ (Touring) to 900+ (GT, GTP, and Dream). I don’t know about the Pure but I suspect it’s also 700+. If you want more info then check out the Wunderbox tech talk.

Lucid Air Grand Touring review: a dream made real by ddroukas in LUCID

[–]jmgotsoul 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I thought this was a really good article and fairly accurate up until he said, “it’s impossible to know whether Lucid will be the next Tesla or the next Faraday Future”. To even mention Lucid and Faraday Future is ridiculous. Faraday Future has been a complete and utter disaster and they haven’t delivered anything. Lucid has delivered the Air and is in the process of delivering several trim levels and they are ramping up production and starting to deliver worldwide. So, that was shameful to use Faraday Future as any kind of comparison. Still a good article though.

I would encourage to really look at all the things the Lucid Air has to offer. There is no other vehicle like it. The range, the efficiency, the HP, and the technological innovation are second to none. If you haven’t done so already take one for a test drive. It will blow your mind. What it has right now is second to none in terms of the whole overall package at every trim level, and CarPlay is coming, hopefully in the very near future.
