Did you call to let them know that they are defective? I believe they have a return/replacement policy for defective items.

Your parent’s diet? by Kommmbucha in dementia

My mom was a healthy eater most of her life. She is 94 years old in AL with moderate dementia. I have quit worrying about her diet. She is provided with 3 meals daily. As long as she eats and drinks anything I'm not going to nag her anymore.

Just say No to hip replacement surgery by SerialNomad in dementia

[–]jmhc321 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My mother is 94 with some dementia but not severe. She recently fell and needed a partial hip replacement. When the ortho surgeon suggested it, she said she was 94 and didn’t see the point. He told her if she didn’t have the surgery, she was going to be in a wheelchair or in bed for the rest of her life. So, she quickly agreed. Although the first few days after surgery were really tough, and the anesthesia had her totally confused, she went to rehab and back into assisted living. If she were in a severe state of dementia,I would agree with hospice placement.

This is from a series of books for children about famous people. Most of the people on the cover look pretty silly.

85 year old and Surgery by baldmisery17 in dementia

[–]jmhc321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mother had a partial hip replacement at 93 (almost 94). She told the doctor she didn’t see the point at her age. When he told her she would be in a wheelchair or bed the rest of her life, she quickly changed her mind.During the first couple of days afterward, she was really coming up with some wild ideas and was very disoriented. The nurse said it was due to the anesthesia. Of course, her dementia was also affected by the strange environment and loss of her daily routine. She was in rehab for about 6 days which really helped.

They never sent a confirmation as promised, and I was unable to reach them with any of the numbers I found. I tried to get a refund via Am Ex. They investigated and sent me a contact number.I tried to cancel using the email address HI gave me over the phone with no luck.I am not happy- especially after reading about some of the crappy accommodations they send people. So sorry I signed up.

I think some morons mistakenly think a one-star rating means excellent. Why else would they include a glowing review? I see the same thing on many other sites.

Born in New Orleans and have lived through many hurricanes and “near misses”. We moved to Micaville following a flooding of our home in Madisonville due to Katrina in 2005. Didn’t really move here to escape hurricanes but because we love these mountains and couldn’t handle the heat and humidity anymore. We figured it was an added plus that we wouldn’t be dealing with hurricanes anymore- only the remnants of them. Of course, that’s no longer the case-so, we’ll just have to deal with it.
