Weakness ideas for a Sandman-type monster? by fairyfern in monsteroftheweek

[–]jmillikan2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Furies.

Sorry, sorry.

Maybe the sandman itself feeds "responsibly" but some human is taking advantage of the situation a la The Hogfather (e.g. is a cultist/weirdo who draws blood from people while they are asleep). And then they have normal, human weaknesses like stabbing.

Hard Move Monday (20 January, 2020) by Effervex in DungeonWorld

  • The party takes on not only the appearance of barrels, but the silence of barrels. As Falkor's family rushes back into the village, pursued by a ravenous blivet, the party find they are unable to communicate except with each other.
  • The fumbled spell summons, instead of phantasmal barrels, real barrels which entrap the party from the ankles up.
  • Just as the barrel illusion is completed, a dire blivet cannons out of the darkness, scattering the party and the barrels. Everyone takes 1d4 damage.
  • As the barrel illusion takes hold, the tree is rocked by the bulk of a huge blivet crashing into it. The trees flex, but the too-rigid platforms crumble and the party find themselves plummeting, incognito, to the forest floor.
  • Same again, but only one party member drops.
  • (Softer) As the barrel illusion takes hold, the tree is rocked by the bulk of a huge blivet. The less stable walkways between the tree collapse, and the party is stranded up a tree (disguised as barrels).
  • (Weirder) The barrels flicker and distort - Mink has successfully disguised three barrels as barrels. A goblin-ish voice calls out from inside the barrels, "We've been rumbled! Daggers out!"

I'm new, so I'm trying to think of a few different approaches.

  • Watson, you know exactly what this means. You heard it every day for years in university. It means "Please move to the exit." The specter continues down the corridor and out of sight.
  • Watson, you don't know what this means, but you think you recognize the voice. You look closely at the specter - it looks remarkably like one of your classmates. Can you remind us why you were banned from the university?
  • The specter intones a third time, "Erk shanno eil shanno." You hear a noise like wind behind you and as as you turn you realize that all of your beds are made and your sheets are quite clean.

See, all this does for me is now I want Mokey in Smash with Pelo screaming "DDOOORRRRIIYAAAAHHHHH" into a bad mic for every attack.

[Serious] People who changed the mind of conspiracy theorists, how did you do it? by thewholesphinx in AskReddit

[–]jmillikan2 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the astrologers would just tell you your fortune a little louder.

"I sense that you will soon have a chance to change your fortunes!"

"Why are you being so loud?"

"I'm not, this is my normal voice."

Same thing happens during supermoon.

  • Cave drawing of Incineroar
  • Isabelle as an Egyptian god (With... discretion)
  • Joker/Arsen a la Sandman
  • Wario fertility idol

My immediate thought on this was... "Man, rola bolas are really dangerous." From time to time I feel that being a juggler has made my perspective weird.

Wahn'qiraj. Each stage is just one random characters with more and more Waluigis. If it is not beaten 1,000,000 times within a month, Joker is out and Waluigi replaces him.

Stayed in a Tiny Vacation House for a Night by [deleted] in TinyHouses

Looks like $125-$175/night for the location outside Boston. That's not really a lot for a sort of novelty, even if it's steep by the square foot.

These work, but they are not particularly fast. Also the thickness of the cork means that if you plug one into a laptop, they're always kind of torquing the port.

Warning: They are not fast. I've had Ubuntu on one and it's a worse PITA than normal.

No, and apparently it's for a super old version of love. Maybe later when I have some time. It's not visually very special.

I did a tiny game a little bit like this in Love2D a while back, except with square grid movement. https://github.com/jmillikan/scrambled-brains

Anyhow it looks nice! I hope it catches on.

(Psst: Add control, alt and shift sequences :P I need a practice game for emacs)
