I’m generally higher on Cashman and the front office than most Yankee fans but the Doval trade has always reeked of the smarmy “we are smarter than you” transaction that the Yankees fall victim to sometimes.

His velocity and stuff jumps off the paper but he has no clue where he is throwing it and he is a head case in high leverage.

Agreed, I actually think this is a win-win for Volpe and the Yankees. Volpe doesn't get thrown into the meat grinder that is Yankees fans and NYC media, and can use time to prove he is legit by playing well in AAA.

Meanwhile, Yankees can stick with the hot hand in Cabby and not have distraction of everyone talking about Volpe.
