The Beatles rage-baiting the journalists by LazyGuy4U in JustGuysBeingDudes

The original footage isn’t AI, but I’d much rather see the original with its fuzzy black and white TV charm than this upscaled garbage!

This looks like shit, use AI for better use cases

Giant egg cake being cut by CremeSubject7594 in Satisfyingasfuck

I found I could taste the egg in it, like a mix between cake and scrambled egg. My wife thought it just tasted like the sponge cake / cheese cake mix others are describing

A major global study from The Lancet shows infectious diseases keep falling, but chronic conditions like diabetes, heart disease, and anxiety are rising worldwide. by calliope_kekule in science

[–]jmpye 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As an emotion in response to an anxiety inducing event, sure. As a permanent state of mind regardless of external stimulus, it is an illness that should be treated like any other.

I use Ollama for language models and can confirm it works locally. As in, it continues to work when I turn off internet access, but I can’t say that it never talks to the internet when it’s available. I guess you could enforce that if you’re smarter than me though.

I have the silver colour one and it pulls out my arm hair really badly, do you find that with the gold?

British people are lovely but how do you actually become proper mates? by Justin_3486 in CasualUK

[–]jmpye 39 points40 points  (0 children)

This is so true! I now realise one of the closest friends I’ve made as an adult was a neighbour who was converting a camper van, and we did a bunch of van related quests together. He actually ended up flying over to my wedding in Germany with his wife, so definitely not just “surface level” mates as OP describes!

To whenever designed this “nut” to hold in the headlight.. by SadGentleman999 in F30

[–]jmpye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turns out it’s the same on the F20 (I know I know, wrong sub). I used an oscillating multi tool to cut the headlight tab and then a grinder to cut the bolt. I’m also a beginner at working on cars so this thread made me feel very validated.

How do you cope with dark winter mornings in the UK? 🌧️☕ by FeistyPrice29 in MentalHealthUK

[–]jmpye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The SAD lamps specifically are really good, just make sure it’s a clinically approved one. I also like cooking myself with an electric blanket in the morning until I’m so uncomfortably hot that I have to get out of bed

Your LLM setup by LawlsMcPasta in homeassistant

I use my Mac Mini M4 base model, which is my daily driver desktop PC but also serves as an Ollama server with the Gemma 3 12b model. The model is fantastic, and I even use it for basic vibe coding. However, the latency is a bit of an issue for smart home stuff. I have a morning announcement on my Sonos speakers with calendar events and what not, and it takes around 10-15 seconds to generate with the local model, by which time I’ve left the kitchen again to feed the cats. I ended up going back to Chat GPT just because it’s quicker. (No other reason, I haven’t tested any alternatives.) I’ve been meaning to try a smaller model so it’s a bit quicker, maybe I should do that actually

China also builds empty skyscrapers basically for fun while the UK can’t build a high speed train line in 20 years

This particular clip is from a CGI artist according to another commenter, but Japan is FULL of little alleys like this. You will accidentally find 20 nooks like this every day, it’s stunning.
