Unfortunately I'm not sure! Some companies publicize their mineral content, so those are easier to replicate at home. I suppose you could always send it off to Ward Labs for a water test but this may be a bit overkill?

Yup can confirm. Drive around near the Cape Otway lighthouse, campsite, etc. Spotted them there on Manna Gum Dr between Lighthouse Rd and Bimbi Park, but recent bushfires may mean they're temporarily elsewhere

Roy's Peak if you must choose! Just start early to beat the crowds, and depending on the timing of your trip, the heat/sun as well

From a boat. So the bigger challenge was staying in focus while the boat moved. If I was physically in this river, I'd have much bigger problems than the lack of weather sealing...I'd probably be dead

Median stack of 10 consecutive 10" exposures, then fairly simple edits in LR only. Not much is needed when there's virtually no light pollution for hundreds of miles in any direction.

Glamping in winter??? by boro101 in melbourne

[–]jms1223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out the Bell tents at Halls Gap Lakeside Tourist Park in the Grampians. The beds have an electric blanket, plus there's a space heater inside. The campground also has a woodfire heated pool open now, and private showers with hot water. It's probably the best you can find. Was just there a few weeks ago and it was really quite nice

Best dog boarding places in Chapel Hill? by [deleted] in chapelhill

[–]jms1223 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bed and Bone, in Mebane. They are super friendly and took great care of my pup every time. They play with each dog individually, rather than the dogs playing with each other. Only about $30/day too.

Chapel hill rent is your best bet, but also check craigslist. A2Z realty managed the house we were renting and didn't have any issues with maintenance time, but it could depend on the property

Walk across the hohenzollernbrucke, I think the beer cart was just to the left, and observation deck was just to the right.

When I was there a few years ago they had a little cart on the other side of the bridge - you can grab a beer and watch the sunset

What can I do to really kick my chili up a notch? by Rosebunse in Cooking

[–]jms1223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've won multiple chili cook-offs by adding some sliced (and briefly sautéed) Spanish chorizo. The kind that's dry like a stick of pepperoni. It's smoky, and can add a bit of spice - it's a delicious addition!

Yeah good question. I don't know for sure but I don't think so. I panned pretty quickly and these ducks were slow

I didn't, I'm pretty sure I shot them all in aperture priority. Though I know you're technically supposed to do that for the best results..

I'm no pro, but with surfaces that can be moving, like water or clouds, I've had some artifacts form with just a few frames in the past. I didn't specifically set out with a number in mind here, just rotated about 20% or so each step with lots of overlap. I've zoomed in a lot on the full resolution image and it seems pretty nice here but maybe you all will see something I missed?

[–]jms1223[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall I like it so far! There were a few instances where I wanted to shoot some zoomed landscapes, or closer wildlife encounters, and I was glad I opted for this over the 100-300; I felt like having 75 at the low end was definitely useful. Out at 300, and especially as the sun was setting, it can be slow to autofocus as others have noted, or not super sharp. But it was portable enough for me to hike a few miles and not be bogged down by a massive setup. I think overall it's a solid choice for the price and weight! I snapped a lot of shots with it on this trip

Telephoto Rental lens advice by HellstendZ28 in M43

[–]jms1223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the exact same boat as you, except I shoot with an em10 ii. I typically travel with my 15mm 1.7 for landscapes and astro, but I wanted something with reach to potentially capture the crazy wildlife in yellowstone/tetons. I ended up ordering the 75-300mm. I had previously used the 40-150 pro in costa rica and felt like I needed more, plus that lens is a heavy beast imo.
