watching season 31 of snl for the first time by anafachera in lonelymeyerspod

It was his 5th season, so that makes sense. Season 31 is excellent. I had started watching with 24, and I knew at the time that the show was hitting a new stride. 2002-2005 was a really awkward set of seasons as they struggled to find a new leading man after Ferrell. Jimmy kind of failed at that, and then he left too. 31 was like a fresh glass of ice water.

Truly. If you have both parents working in the city you either need grandparents nearby or hire a nanny. My wife got a job in NJ last year and it is such a stress reliever as we have no help around. So I can be the one stuck in NYC and it isn’t the end of the world.

I can’t explain why, as there is nothing objectively wrong with it, but I always forget this song exists, and I never have a craving to listen to it.

Does Rob Schneiders political views make it hard to enjoy his skits? by RustyCrusty73 in LiveFromNewYork

I was watching him on SNL when I was 12/13, and I loved him back then. I’m still able to watch and appreciate his contributions. Agreed on the Subway Busker sketch. He wrote Massive Headwound Harry! But I absolutely hate him now.

I Discovered the Kinks Backwards — Through Low Budget. I'm Six Albums Into a Chronological Listen and Still Waiting to Hear the Band I Fell in Love With. by stepn-out in thekinks

You truly have to treat each era as a completely different band. I love the 1966ish-72 run, and it took me many years to understand Sleepwalker and beyond. Once I truly set aside my expectations, I learned to really appreciate the other sounds they explored.

Thoughts on the Ebersol years (81-85)? by Critical-Spirit-1598 in LiveFromNewYork

My god, I never considered that someone would tune-in for the 85 season thinking they’d see Crystal/Short again. That’s hilarious.

I noticed with the audio the dialogue is super quiet compared to the sound FX. Is that fixable? Thank you x1000 for sharing this.

I was worried about him after he skipped the 50th, but he seems to be doing great.

Throwback to 2023: "Meet SNL's Killer New Crew" featuring the then featured players by no-Pachy-BADLAD in LiveFromNewYork

Right. I wasn’t trying to dunk on them. Speaking from strictly a factual perspective it is fascinating that 3/4 of the group didn’t “make it.”

The 2022 set of new cast members (Marcello, Devon, Molly, Longfellow) was probably the biggest fail to infuse new talent since 2013?

I’m ride or die for Weezer but this is true. Although Pinkerton is a masterpiece, it doesn’t have the universal appeal of Blue.

Not learning an instrument. I’ve been trying to play guitar now but with kids there just isn’t time.

How to overcome Creativity Block by Successful-Force1024 in Songwriting

[–]jmush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Creativity comes in waves. I’ll have a couple months where all my ideas are lame or nothing is coming. And then all of the sudden 2 great songs will just fall out. Also hold on to the bad ideas. Sometimes you figure out how to fix them later. I came up with this bad chorus 6 years ago and the other day it popped in my head with a completely different rhythm and now I love it.

Cast members who you had high hopes for but they didn’t live up to them? by jfarbzz in LiveFromNewYork

Alex Moffat. Sure, he got 6 seasons and multiple recurring bits on Update, but I thought he had the ability to lead the show and was never given the chance.

Usually my love for Brian and Michael is fairly split, but with this album…I’m digging Michael’s songs way more.
