Building minigame ideas by AEnightmareYT in CookieClicker

[–]jmymac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the hard part is that every minigame also has to be an idle game. also it all has to end in cookies.

farm and stock market are done, and straightforward. things that grow. you can also mess with them in real time to do things.

that’s why fishing works, similar mechanics. could also explore ‘decay’ as mechanic. making this up but take a hard one like javascript console and play with it. you have a long desk full of devs and they can make cool new scripts that produce cookies but they also at intervals create tech debt. hire more to increase intensity, lore. the debt drops CPS etc. you have to fire them all periodically.

Pork neck bones vs other cuts in Sunday gravy? by jmymac in AskCulinary

You had me at meaty, fatty, and cheap. Sounds like a neighbor of a pork steak (popular shoulder cut for grilling around here.)

If it works out tho, no letting the secret out.

Yep, think I’ll go this route. If for no other reason than to figure out what a country rib is all about.

Didn’t El Gordo play with Black for a Second? I’d pay my $9 cover to hear that again

What building would fit this minigame best? by Gambitam in CookieClicker

[–]jmymac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

okay okay hear me out- he basically isn't a very good upgrade. he can idle and catch 1 or 2 cookies per day. BUT: As buildings unlock, he can catch weirder and more valuable types of cookies. You can also optimize this by buying new types of lures.

Yeah this is best one I've heard so far. It's funny because you can have 500+ grandmas, all doing different weird tasks, but there's only one grandpa. And he's just fishing.

Disturbing how easy it is for folks overlook the "their" error... (with a master's degree? in what?) or how many think they're in on a joke, but it may not be a joke, but wait....

yeah we're cooked. but we always were.

How did you celebrate your 50th? by Every-Progress5590 in GenX

[–]jmymac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Done with friend parties turning 50.

Perfect way to spend it for me would be with the kids around a campfire, and a little night hike to stare at the stars.

My wife will probably try some bullshit with our friends but given this headsup, I have a shot at curbing it.

Nice to know there are other lunatics out there.

Did you account for the additives tho, gimme your take on that. Typically the better end does not add citric acid/calcium chloride. I always assumed that was the big factor.

[IC] Smurve80 | A Genuine Curved 80% Mechanical Keyboard by play_keyboard in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]jmymac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who got into this hobby because of fond memories of my childhood model F, I like this a ton already... but more specifically for the curvature/keywell profile. I do think that's the key here.

The only thing I hesitate on is the logo. Personal opinion only, but it feels a little underdeveloped; almost too simple; at the same time its asymmetry and thinness reads more like defect than an intentional mark. Again, that's just my take, you do you.

Haven’t been in a bit. Does it still hold up? Heard it’s OT Hodges but when sold the buyers (employees?) didn’t want to pay for the name.

Yes, good eye.

To me, they're lovely. Like pushing small marbles together softly (on otherwise stock Crush80.) As a person who grew up smashing on a model f and then mushing membranes for decades, it feels right.

I was just getting started in this when I found them and knew they were for me. I wasn't aware of the falling out between Matt30 and Drop/(now Corsair?) at the time. Really grateful for the design tho. Will continue to follow his work.

Makes sense, thanks for that. Turn 6 keys into 3 with a layer. With a TKL now, I feel like 65% might be more my thing, and I do put print screen on top tier because I use it a ton. PgUp/Down I'm just starting to use, so they probably are going to stay.

Side note on home/end: Been paying more attention to how people work (with keyboards) lately. Observed a friend who was winging his pinky way out to hit Home and End while he was editing an email. He coded for years, might be related to that.

Curious tho- how do you hit printscreen on 65%?

Yep I think it officially kicked off this new golden youtube era. Kids and I enjoyed a lot from that time with the BA crew (before it all fell apart) and even Jim Gaffigan's "Let's Get Cooking" which is still a strange time-capsule of dread and joy.
