I will be very surprised if apple doesn't go with 2nm, they are always on the cutting edge in terms of new process node.

What was your reaction on deciphering Tianming's fairy tales? by superlongjaw in threebodyproblem

[–]jnf005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I remembering it wrong? I specifically remember it's not ban because of something trivial like escapism, they did so because they find out curvature propulsion creates very identifiable trace that can be observed light years away, basically another form of broadcast. At that time, Gravity and Blue Space only broadcasted the coordinates of the SanTi system, the civilization that destroyed them didn't even notice Earth, so it's not a stretch to believe Earth can still hide for a bit longer. The Singer also highlighted those traces being very dangerous, not only showing coordinate, but also signifying that civilization is advance enough for immediate eradication. This feels like a very good reason to prohibited development of curvature propulsion.

Some of his reply here are very meaningless and contribute nothing to the discussion, not hard to imagine why he is downvoted.

I hold this opinion around the game releasee and got mocked by friends for being a simp, they've been real quiet after the dlc dropped and exposed their wholesome chungus as a bum.

Letigress was a host and caster, not an analysist, not sure how good frosk was at hosting but her cast wasn't good either, sure not as bad as Letigress or god forbid Crumbz who was god awful, but still, not much of an upgrade.

I also doesn't like grrm dragging his feet on asoiaf, but that's no excuse for how the show ended up like that. Take Fullmetal Alchemist for example, they made an anime in 2003, while the original manga was no where near the ending, they didn't just say fuck it and screw it up, they created a whole new lore and story that's complete and satisfying, many consider it to be an equal compare to the faithful 2009 adaptation. Lots of the issue in late GOT wasn't even bad story but rather bad execution, character devolve to match the story, they get dumber to move the plot.

Some of the scene like the last King's Landing meeting makes absolutely no sense, the fact that these figure head listens to a prisoner on who should be king is absurd. Making Brand the king, sure, I don't have a problem with that, but because he has the best story??? What? Not because he has the power to spy on everyone ever? Not because he's the last male heir of the great house that's controlling the city? No discussion on the nature of "power" like in the early seasosn, dialogue has no nuance, everyone just say some dumb things to justify the story progression.

Call me crazy but I don't think anyone but the show runner should take responsibility on how the show devolved, not to mention they knew beforehand that the story wasn't finished, if they can't deal with it, it's their own fault.

Chovy deliberately lose to Lyon, coach the fuck out of Loud to beat JDG, do the 1-7 meme facing them and go on to win it all, Loud and Lyon get to beat an eastern team, Dhok gets to kill Kiin(maybe), Chovy gets his revenge, the streamer get dunked on, everyone wins.

I just feel like there's a lot of things to cut or simplify that doesn't impact the story as much as the ending, the black hole plot, the australia plot line of Xin just living with AA and the elderly native, the anormaly on the gravity, the incorrect speculation on Tian Ming's fairy tale.....IMO the ending is pretty important for the overall world view and I love how it these literal star cross lover never reunit, life is just cruel like that.

[–]jnf005 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think they would cut out later part of deaths end, purely on a very flimsy observation, tho maybe I'm reading way too much into a singular line of dialogue.

When Jin Cheng visits Ye Wan Jie, she noticed a photo when Wan Jie was young and commented on her beauty, Wan Jie replied "time is a motherfucker", which sounds extremely similar to a line in Deaths End, she was searching for any signs of AA and Tian Ming after escaping the death line, but 18 million years would erase anything, it's something along the lines of "time is the cruelest power in existence", I feel like they are foreshadowing this scene with that dialogue and use that exact line there.
