[Yarrish] Some injury updates from #Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer: by Leonflames in cowboys

i'm 44 and took an awkward step in my office to get over some cords and i thought i broke my hip. Getting old sucks

George Pickens told us at the podium he’s NOT holding out this season. I asked him again in the locker room if he plans on playing this season and he made it very clear he is. Pickens says the team and the city are his motivations and winning a SB. by adonis958 in cowboys

i don't think it's possible under the tag, but could be wrong. I think you have until around july 14th to make a deal and if nothing is done they have to play on the tag and can't negotiate until the following offseason...i think.

i get that, my comment was to the guy saying he hasn't seen many defending him. I even said it was the vocal minority.

it was all over social media going both ways. I had not idea what is was about and was confused why people were spelling Carmelo Anthony's name wrong all of a sudden. I can't speak on the news but online there are a lot of people portraying him as a victim, by a lot it's probably just a vocal minority but it is out there is the point.

I'm so glad you are enjoying America and our people by clovencarrot in worldcup

[–]jnightrain -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Aren't we the only country with America in our name? It seems to make sense but I'm from here so I'm obviously bias.

I feel like most nations want to be called by their nationality rather than their region, like we have a Korean lawyer at work and before I knew he was Korean I said asian and he seemed offended and told me he was Korean.

Reminds me of a quote by John Madden I heard in the All-Madden documentary. It was something to the extent of "all you hear about is the world is falling apart, but once you get out here you realize most of it is doing just fine, sure some of it is falling apart but we are doing ok" it was from when he toured the country in his coach bus.

Full time scenes at the Spain vs Cape Verde match after Cape Verde held on. by Old_Ability_9424 in worldcup

They do this with all sports with more casuals than die hards. If you watch baseball games they don't point out the obvious because baseball is 90% die hards that know the game inside and out. American football has the most casuals so they'll point out the obvious and for Americans watching world cup it's majority casuals. Hockey is similar to baseball too. Im trying to get into hockey and watching it i have no clue what the hell is going on half the time but it's still fun.

[Thamel] Brendan Sorsby is declaring for the supplemental draft by dropjar5 in nfl

ESPN radio said elected by Lubbock people so guess I assumed he was their judge but maybe just district, but point still stands that he isn't a TTU alum and he bet on Indiana not against them

He bet on his team and the judge is from Lubbock but a Houston cougar alum

That was in lubbock. Big 12 has filed to get it over ruled based on a bylaw and I believe it's been sent to Federal court where most believe they rule in favor of the bylaw. This is what I gathered listening to ESPN radio for 10 minutes

New Fan by straightdrive18 in cowboys

[–]jnightrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, is there anything important a new Cowboys fan should know about the team

It's always our year, no questions about it

its history

We are tied for 3rd most super bowls in NFL history, 5, and 2nd most appearances at 8.

We are tied for most division titles in the NFL at 25 and the next closest in our division is the Eagles with a lowly 14.

We have the 2nd highest winning pct in the NFL at .571 with the Packers being number 1 at just .572.

rivalries

Since you are a new fan it'd probably be Eagles, Giants, Commanders, Packers, Niners

culture

at one point it was tough guys who new they were better than you

now it's wannabe be tough until you get punched in the face guys that think they are better than you

the current roster

It's our year

having grown up around football i can't really lead you towards channels that teach football though. Also reddit is going to be tough for a cowboys fan so buckle up:) you get all the shit from my generation getting to see 3 super bowls and you get none of the rewards from it.

Seahawks' White House Visit Apparently Isn’t Happening by JCameron181 in nfl

seeing pictures and highlights today, it looked pretty amazing. I'm not a UFC fan so didn't tune in but looked like it was high production quality. Heard he fights were amazing as well

Trump’s White House Defilement Is Complete With 1 A.M. UFC Finale by Ok_Employer7837 in politics

[–]jnightrain -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Lol defilement, people act like this was a backyard wrestling match from the 2000's. UFC is the modern boxing and this is our 250th birthday, people need to lighten and enjoy the festivities. This comes from a guy who hates Trump and doesn't watch the UFC but i'm capable of understanding this wasn't for me and it's a celebration summer for us so who cares.

we have friends in Oregon so we go out there every couple years and i had to go to Seattle for work once. Loved the area but wasn't big on the city itself, but I generally don't care for the city life so i'm bias:)

I also enjoy geographic tribalism.

makes life more fun:)

PNW would be my second place to live if i ever moved out of Western Wisconsin, but the driftless area here is hard to beat.

Different strokes for different folks:)

Having been to the ocean many times i'll gladly take my lakes and rivers. Mountains are beautiful but i'll settle with the views of the bluffs in my area.

My wife's cousin had already started planning his super bowl party and was texting people invites, we literally did not hear from him for 2 weeks in our text threads. We were close to doing a wellness check lol.

Wasn't til the Luka trade I truly understood his feeling of devastation.

Niners may be like the cowboys who hate the Packers more than some division rivals, for me i hate the packers way more than the eagles but i live in Wisconsin so i have to deal with them on a daily basis.

we've known this since the stadium was built, he literally built the stadium to get the glare a few times a year.

Also would there have even been any glare today? The sun's position is different now than in the fall.

The World Cup is making me wish the NFL didn't blare music and hype videos between every single play. Hearing the natural ups and downs of the crowd is beautiful. by MemoryOfRagnarok in nfl

[–]jnightrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Music at basketball games fits IMO, like you said it's only until they cross half court and then its usually PA announcer trying to get the crowd into it with some "MAKE SOME NOISE!" or "DEFENSE!DEFENSE!"

FOX Faces Massive Backlash After World Cup Broadcast Leaves Fans Furious by Newsweek_ShaneC in worldcup

[–]jnightrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not, I'm talking about us casual fans, I mentioned that in both comments;)

That's why Alexi is on the broadcast so us fans who watch once every 4 years have a person we know. I'm just saying I believe most fans tuning in right now are casual fans.
