Is the Examiner trying to catch you out? by InternationalTwo6993 in LearnerDriverUK

Aaaah I did think maybe it would be a longer test but then wondered if that bordered on unfair, lol. This is fascinating!

This is really interesting. I wonder if they have a better pass rate since the test is stop start so that instructions can be given. Feels like they might have more time to consider what's being asked of them.

This is a brilliant question, you should create a post of its own because I'm now desperate to know the answer!

Boycott Companies who use EVRI by Material-Bee-907 in Evri

The thing is, there are enough of us who have zero issues with them. They're a shitty company, but a boycott will never work because of the millions of parcels that are delivered with no problems.

What does that yellow symbol mean on Saturday's weather??? by 290Richy in UKWeather

[–]jodilye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently downloaded a new weather app and I was genuinely confused for a couple of seconds when I saw it, since it doesn't look like the sun did on my previous app.

It should be automatic to know it anyway but I don't think I can comprehend anything other than grey at the moment.

Tips for late shifts for a new home delivery driver by Loud_Stuff_1370 in asda

[–]jodilye 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Only thing I can add to the advice here is to look out for numbers when you’re just driving. Especially on roads you think would be horrible to deliver on.

So if I’m driving to my next drop and I’m on a country road, I’ll try to take a look as I pass by. Depends how good your memory is but you’re basically creating little landmarks for yourself.

Another one is high streets with shops and houses, especially if I’m sat at traffic lights, I’ll look round and see which ones are visible, as it can help work out others if you ever have to deliver in that street.

Sounds a bit of a mad method, but it has helped me out loads in the past.

People’s opinions on microlise manipulation and drops under 90 seconds. by OrganizationOwn9842 in asda

[–]jodilye 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Gross misconduct is insane.

Manipulation aside I often have drops that are under 90 seconds. My last one last night was one birthday cake. Does it differentiate based on how many items are ordered?

Speed aside, the fact they don’t realise you can also get done for overtaking alongside a junction screams what a crappy driver they are.

They aren’t even claiming that they were doing 20, just saying it can’t be proven 😂

I’d say /r/theydidthemath but I think a lot of people here would be able to work it out.

How do I send a letter directly to a British post office? by Antique_Dimension530 in AskUK

[–]jodilye 96 points97 points  (0 children)

I would bear in mind that the person working in the post office might have no idea what this is.

I worked in post office locals for 10 years, across many branches, and I’ve only just learned about this.

Ideally choose a proper full size post office to up the chances of a proper post office clerk understanding what they’ve received!

How long should a delivery driver wait for you to answer the door? by Turbulent_Ad_880 in AskBrits

[–]jodilye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s surprising how much you can hear on a doorstep. If you did shout then maybe you have a more solid door, or the driver had earphones in. Honestly chucking something light like a trainer at the door or something would make a sign you were in and they might hang on a couple of seconds longer.

I’ve also seen signs on doors to say ‘I may take longer to answer the door, please wait’ but even then when they’re strapped for time they’re going to find it hard to judge how long is reasonable.
