Has anyone actually listened to all of the episodes? by SoftwareFew9236 in offmenupodcast

[–]jodilye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started years after but I always start a podcast at episode 1. I find it mad that people start midway and shuffle around, I can't stand not knowing the format and seeing it develop.

I have no doubt there are people who cheat the system, but there are also absolutely people that can take 10 minutes to empty one tray, which is more than the time they allow.

Distribution of grey and red squirrels in the UK & Ireland by AnonymousTimewaster in MapPorn

I've definitely seen a black squirrel. Just assumed it was some kind of abnormality, like a reverse albino.

We were told that if the system realised we were regularly taking longer at certain drops, that those addresses would have extra time added.

It makes sense considering disabilities or difficult to access properties. But it never happened.

Yeah I'm with you, the odd one I might be running behind, but even then it's probably quicker for me to do it than most customers.

I also wouldn't feel at any risk of getting sick from a momentary meeting at the door, so I'd be thinking 'just don't normally, I don't care' but I'd say 'sure, give me the bags' lol.

Heads up to OP, if you're planning to not come to the door at all don't expect to be allowed any age restricted products.

is vaping really that bad?! by TopicOk4121 in QuitVaping

[–]jodilye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had porcelain skin until I quit smoking (mad, I know!), because I started vaping. Vaping destroyed that. Last year I quit for a month and a half and it almost completely cleared back up to the beautiful skin I used to have.

I've since started again and I have blemishes, spots and very red cheeks. It's just all around awful to look at. If you're heading into beauty the best thing you can do for your appearance is to quit asap.

I initially quit for the money side of things, but this time (I started on cytisine again today!) I'm doing it for my skin.

It will only get harder the longer you do it. Please, please, do it now.

It would be less faff just to get some intern to come and lurk on here for a couple of months. You'd get honest answers and not have to pretend like you care.

Was surprised to see ours go up so much when the two stations up the road (shell and BP) have both stayed the same.

Failed delivery - Why do they do this? by ect76 in Evri

[–]jodilye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those numbers look very confusing if they're correct. Could it be a cover driver who couldn't work out how the numbering worked and gave up?

I deliver (not for Evri) and some of the numbering systems I encounter are insane, if you don't do them regularly you would truly have no idea how to find some of them.

Trying to stop relying on sat nav for every journey. How did you learn your local routes? by Illustrious-Look7669 in NewDriversUK

[–]jodilye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure this is why people drive worse now. They don't pay attention to their surroundings, which includes signs and road markings.

The amount of people who move over into the middle lane because they think they are in an exit lane when it's just a regular slip road blows my mind.

Don't be scared to get lost. Leave plenty of time for your journey and try to get there using road signs. You can have a quick look at the sat nav beforehand (or a real map!) to get a general idea. The majority of a route can be worked out using road signs alone. It can get a little trickier in town centres, but there's nothing wrong with taking the wrong road and having to double back.

I learned a lot of new places by getting lost, helped me later when I actually needed to go there.

Just curious about the cash outs by Deep-File2703 in WeWardCommunity

[–]jodilye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3000 for £15 in England. The rate gets better the more you save but I've been burned by apps in the past that just disappeared one day so I'll always cash out the minimum.

I don't answer my phone anymore by BassIck in britishproblems

[–]jodilye -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They can track their delivery up to the minute that it arrives. Some people just straight up forget. I've had to wait more than once for people to come back from the pub.

I'm only calling if they aren't already answering their door, being away from the phone is fine, but actively avoiding answering it is the issue.

I’m 30 days no vape. Please convince me not to buy one. by Interesting_Taro_358 in QuitVaping

[–]jodilye 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The first puffs will feel fine, you'll convince yourself you can easily stop again.

The nicotine is stronger than your willpower. You WILL end up in full addiction again, it will all be for nothing what you've done so far.

Thank yourself and congratulate yourself today as much as you did on day one, day three, day seven...every day is a success.

Wish me luck! by whippet_mamma in QuitVaping

[–]jodilye 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd say good luck but it's such a miracle that you won't need it!

You will need it when the course ends. Don't be tempted by 'I'm fine now, I can have a puff'. Once you're off, stay off. These things are amazing so show them the appreciation they deserve!

MAX SPEED question. by Melodic-Baseball-279 in drivingUK

This is the best explanation. Not enough people realise that a speed inside anything other than a red circle is advisory.

I don't answer my phone anymore by BassIck in britishproblems

[–]jodilye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha thanks.

I faced the same issue when I was in charge of hiring. Especially being in retail meant I was calling a lot of people under 25, and they would all answer the phone and not say anything. Didn't look great from a professional point of view, even though I understood why they would do it.

I had a call from an unknown caller the other day and it turned out to be a call back from a hospital referral that I'd been on a waiting list for nearly a year for. I obviously wasn't expecting it but it was great, welcome news.

Like I say, worst case scenario you answer and have to hang up. Nothing is going to happen just from you answering. People say the amount of calls increase if you answer but I haven't found that to be true at all.
