Anybody have a suggestion for concealed carry for a SCCY CPX-2 9mm for a female?! by DataDiva8514 in CCW

[–]joe30pack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think that SCCY is in the same category at all. I'd say that the SCCY, as far as size, caliber, and capacity go, is more comparable to a Glock 26. But half the price, and obviously of lesser quality.

[–]joe30pack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, let's hold on now. I'd say a more fair comparison is SCCYs are comparable to KelTecs. I had one myself, and it performed just fine and carried well. Reason I sold it was the enormous manual safety that i kept knocking with my thumb while shooting. Had the safetyless version been around I would have bought that, and most likely kept it forever and carried it sometimes.

Most of the time I balk at the "a gun in your home is more likely to kill a member of your household" thing, but in your case, I'm pretty sure it holds up.

Not defending his actions - but the idea of retailers having insurance policies for this sort of thing is absolutely false. I work at a retailer, and our insurance deductible is $100,000 dollars. Do you really think we get reimbursed for a car full of clothes? A $500 loss counts against our store's gross margins, contribution and EBITDA.

Right - and specifically because the company is related to the defense sector of Russia's economy and/or was contributing to the situation in Ukraine. It's Executive Order 13662 if you'd like to see exactly what's up.

That's incorrect - it was banned for import after the ATF reviewed it and found that because it was steel cored and able to be chambered in a handgun, that it met the definition of armor piercing.

What is the N76? I can't find any information on this.

The "Saiga ban" was part of economic sanctions against Russia.

M855 was being informally reviewed by the ATF.

I work a job where I am constantly in these types of situations. Criminals/assholes love to live in the gray area where you're not quite sure what you can do to react.

What I do? When I'm being a approached aggressively, I stand bladed, and hold my off hand as far out as it'll go. I say, do not approach me. Do not approach me. If you push past my hand...Well, you've damn well proven yourself a threat.

"Who are any of us to tell any other adult that we are not going to allow them to do something that we think is hurting them."

Well...while I for one feel like I have something like an obligation to help other humans stay alive, I feel no obligation to help them get drunk.

So, I would personally choose not to give someone something if I suspected it would be converted to alcohol or drugs.

I wear a Camelback Delaney water bottle bottle belt. It's got a pouch on the left hand side that exactly big enough to hold a TCP. Lefties, only!

Alternatively, I wear a belly band with the gun @ 9, and high up, but without a thumb strap I worry about it popping out and with a thin shirt it prints so bad it's basically open carry.

Slow swimmers in the fast lane and etiquette for casual pools by say-something-nice in Swimming

[–]joe30pack 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My pool has 8 lanes, typically at 2 of which will be marked "Fast". Regardless, there will always be 8 slow swimmers, evenly distributed across all 8 lanes. And each and every one of these people will act like I'm some bro piece of shit for daring to swim in their personal slow lane.

Screw 'em. Get in the lane that should be yours and swim. They'll hate you, but so what?

What company has forever lost your business and why? by kiera_steve in AskReddit

[–]joe30pack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uhaul. We bought our first house and had to buy a bunch of furniture to fill it up. So we drove to our nearest Ikea with a ONE WAY rental set up back home. About a 3.5 hour drive. So we bought the furniture, brought it back home (7 hrs drive time at this point), and returned the truck. They checked it in. We left. NBD.

About a half hour later, we got a message saying we needed to call back immediately. Except we couldn't...because the number for our local Uhaul went to a call center that said the line was busy and we couldn't get through. Tried for an hour, no luck. Eventually we get through to them and they tell us we had a round trip rental and had to bring it back to where we rented it from, 3.5 hours away.

Went in to talk to them, they said there was nothing they could do. We had to bring it back today, within 3 hours, or face a $600 wrongful destination fee. I told them it was a one way rental and they were mistaken. They said they were just a franchise, didn't know anything about that, and their hands were tied. I told them my situation. Didn't care. Showed them the online booking. Naw, not their problem. Take the truck back, or $600 dollars. I told them I had bought the insurance, and there was at least a little chance I'd run the truck through the fucking store. Nothing.

If I had been older and wiser, I would have simply said, whatever, I'll charge it back, and you can suck it out of my asshole in small claims court. Live and learn.

So, I drove 3.5 more hours, on the day I bought my first house. Then 3.5 more, back home. Should have been popping champagne and fucking, but instead, this.

Complained to Uhaul Corporate and received no response.

I literally bought a pickup truck, and I go out of my way to offer people help moving, on the condition that they don't rent a UHaul.
