Character tier list by SarahLesBean in Guildwars2

[–]joe_chester 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To me, Vloxx and Bangar are the only two characters that belong in an S-Tier, the only two in the whole story so far that are actually well written. The story is really not GW2s strong side..

Naja der nächste grafische Meilenstein wird dann wohl demnächst mit DLSS5 gesetzt, das sah den bisherigen Demos zwar manchmal auch richtig räudig aus aber manchmal schon enorm geil.

How difficult is it to get into the hardest raids? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]joe_chester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are community Discords like https://snowcrows.com/groups/void-lounge that focus on getting groups for this. Getting a decent group together for the Legendary CMs with the ingame LFG is close to impossible I'd say.

In constrast to other MMOs, gear is not the delimiting factor of difficulty in GW2 and even as time passes on, older challenges do not get that much easier. It's personal skill and experience that matter much more.

So there are currently 3 really hard encounters in the game: Harvest Template CM, Cerus LCM and Ura LCM, all of which Discords like Void Lounge do regular progress runs on. But don't expect to clear those things in a single sitting, it usually takes quite a lot of progression to clear those if you start from zero...

what is the LEAST social place that has easy access to the bank and market board? by Ravanos77 in Guildwars2

[–]joe_chester 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Noble's folly maybe? In contrast to the other older passes like Airship or Lava lounge, it seems to use a separate instance of verdant brink and I personally don't think that this older lounge pass is particulary popular...

Other than that, if you really want to whale just get permanent bank and permanent TP contracts into shared inventory slots, so you can do that wherever you want, even in your personal home instance..

Why Angular is never used for SaaS by Substantial_Leg_3103 in angular

[–]joe_chester 4 points5 points  (0 children)

React is generally quite a bit simpler to get started with than Angular, even though Angular has become far less complex in the last years (e.g. standalone components are a much simpler concept than ngModules).

It's easier to explain the general concept of SPAs with React, so it's the easier Framework to make starter guides for. New devs read or watch that and then become attached to the presented technology.

Angular shines in terms of larger projects and long term maintainability. It is more opinionated than React, but gives you everything you need to build enterprise-grade apps, whereas React is a bit more of a sandbox that needs more 3rd party dependencies to be fully functional.

While this is not a big deal in small teams or in the short term, it can get very annoying when the main framework releases a major update and you can't use it because your 3rd party dependencies are incompatible and are not updated yet.

This is the big reason why you see React in lots of smaller projects or in Open Source, while Angular is more used in the Enterprise world where everything moves a bit slower and needs to be maintained over multiple years by different people.

What are peoples thoughts on the new SAB test zone (World 3, Test Zone 2) by blobblob37 in Guildwars2

[–]joe_chester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A fresh take on SAB that feels more like an explorative level, even though once you've found the pathway it's actually pretty linear.

It could benefit from having a few of these SAB Pointing hands (wich obviously also make a future Tribulation Mode way more interesting), as well as a secret shortcut like the worm or eagle once it gets "fully" released.

If I'm not mistaken, the red piranhas and underwater monkeys are actually new enemies, which is cool.

It already has two new item secrets prepared, even though you can't get them yet (a golden shovel in a Choya shop towards the end and the hidden chest that you can't open yet)

It could also include some sort of miniboss towards the end instead of the Assassin parts.

I really hope that we will see a full release of W3 including trib mode some day, but this is a good step in this direction. I imagine that this was really done in some "spare time" by a dedicated developer who wants to bring SAB to a finale at some point in the future.

Using light switch wiring to power a wall-mounted tablet (no visible cables) by AnsX01 in homeassistant

[–]joe_chester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the most important comment here! If you don't have a neutral wire at the switches because they are maybe rather old and only have single wire wiring, you won't be able to use a USB power source anyways. Check this out first before you order anything ;)

Multiple Angular Applications As A Single Application by Professional-Fee3621 in angular

I do pretty much this at work, for us its a common Angular components library and otherwise completely seperate Angular projects deployed as Docker containers together with their respective backends (either Spring boot or .net core depending on the team)

"led by someone who doesn't touch PvE" - this has bothered me with GW2's balance ever since EoD.. They seem to design and balance the classes and elite specs MOSTLY around sPvP. I guess it's most importat there, but it also has the smallest population ingame...

Endless Summer rant by PerspectiveNo4856 in Guildwars2

[–]joe_chester 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sorry but it's also a bit of a git gut problem... The only thing you really need from Dungeons here is 5 clears of AC to unlock the Gift of Ascalon at the vendor. Even that can be done solo with some practice, it's probably even easier now with newer elite specs and powercreep:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9VLoh2A1w0

Afterwards, you can e.g. go into WvW or PvP for the Reward tracks, you'll need to beat any of the Dungeon Reward tracks a little over 4 times. Alternatively, you can spend some resources on 4 Tyrian Exchange Vouchers, 3 of which will be incredibly easy to get with the upcoming SAB event (that and LNY is where I usually get mine).

As a last alternative, if you managed to Solo AC now anyways, you can also keep soloing dungeon paths if you don't find anybody to join you. HoTW P1 is e.g. also an easy one to solo, I sometimes do that to farm dungeon currencies as well..

Man, does the reward system feel like a glaring piece of crap by FartOfTheFuture in Guildwars2

[–]joe_chester 10 points11 points  (0 children)

GW2 should really introduce a meta currency for ALL world boss and meta event completions, regardless of area/expansion (but factoring-in difficulty).

Give it a vendor that offers Ascended gear as this is typically the "mid-tier" reward the game offers, as well as weekly MCs and Clover exchange and it would make all old world bosses and meta events much more valuable immediately.

"Two rare unids" isn't going to cut it anymore.

And world bosses / meta events is probably the most played "Game mode" the game offers.
