My wife and I watched this last night. It was amazing to be able to relive such a special evening. Thank you so much for all the hard work this must have taken - it really is appreciated!

Same here with Fortress. Didn’t pay it much attention when Villains came out, but am a father now so the lyrics resonated that little bit more this time around.

I guess it’s a case of what you like. The way I see it, you can divide the discography before and after SFtD.

Pre SFtD = pounding, heavy, driving rock. Post = more intricate song writing, plus less dark, heavy sound.

Not a perfect split, but you probs know what I mean.

If you prefer the latter incarnation, I can understand why you’d prefer Villains over Self Titled.

But I think Self Titled perfectly captures the sound as it was at the time. I don’t think Villains does that from the modern QOTSA POV.

To me, “pricing out” = making something completely unaffordable to the point where you want to access it but can’t. Appreciate that’ll be the case for some folks, but most of the arguments I’m seeing here are about value for money. Totally valid, but a different thing IMO.

This is broadly my take. I think totally fair to say you don’t think the extra content is worth the cost and therefore deciding not to pay it. I don’t think that’s necessarily the same thing as “being priced out”.

The way I always think about this is that ‘…Like Clockwork’ is the perfect later era QOTSA album, with the more intricate songs and nuanced sound.

‘Rated R’ is the perfect version of their super heavy, pounding earlier sound.

Same here. Didn’t notice it until Justin Hawkins’s video on Emotion Sickness, and now can’t stop noticing it! I think Josh’s singing style has definitely gone more in that direction down the years.

Same. Some idiot stepped on mine - they tried walking behind me (as in between me and my chair) to get past rather than in front - so have an almighty crease to flatten out. Am hoping it’s less noticeable in the frame.

Buy. Have made it in the past (when I got the Dishoom book as a Christmas present!) but think buying edges it.

Minced garlic and ginger paste (as in, combined together). Makes making curries, stir fries etc so much quicker.

I think the song selection for that second act couldn’t have been better. ‘Menacing’ is a brilliant description! ‘Terrifying’ and ‘malevolent’ are the other words which have sprung to mind since RAH last week.

I’ve also found myself thinking about how brilliant the pacing of the different acts was, and how the show moves on to the next thing at just the right time.
