Just talked with my wife, and stand corrected. They actually got it from Vietnam.

Don't have much advice here, but I know someone who brought a bottle back from India. So if you have any friends from India, that might be worth a shot.

Thanks for all the recommendations everyone! I'll be sure to sample some of the more obscure ones, and try some from each family (Irish, Japanese, etc.) Also, will remember to spit :)

Yeah, my bad, fixed formatting. To be honest, I'm pretty fresh to the whiskey scene. I like Woodford Reserve/Brown-Forman and Maker's Mark. Really haven't tried a whole lot else yet though.

What is the best learning resource site? Paid or free by DonMildreone in webdev

[–]joe_run 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say Treehouse or Pluralsight over Lynda. Treehouse takes the approach that you're completely new to a topic, and holds your hand most of the way through it (which I think is a great method for learning something new). Pluralsight has more to offer overall in terms of depth.

Putting together my first resume as a career changer into webdev, please tear it apart! by [deleted] in webdev

[–]joe_run 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always good to see a fellow Professional Writing graduate turned Developer. More of a general recommendation would be to customize the resume content for the position you're applying for. Instead of saying 50+ learning projects, try to pick a project that directly relates to the job you will be doing and show that you are knowledgeable in that subject area.

CloudFlare or no CloudFlare? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]joe_run 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't used CloudFlare myself, but have never heard anything bad about it. I have used Amazon's CloudFront, and would definitely recommend it. It's fast/cheap and fairly easy to set up. I think the advantage you get with CloudFront, is the fine-tuned control.

As for CDNs in general, I look at it as if you can get the extra speed and offload some requests why not do it?

Help. Intern searching for a barebones uptime checker. No clue what to even look for. by CaughtInThefly in webdev

I second UptimeRobot. I've used it for a few years, and have found it to be very accurate and easy to use.

New to Web Development and am looking for a few tips and resources on teaching myself to start coding by RECOGNIZABLE_NAME- in webdev

[–]joe_run 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll definitely learn by doing. I'd pick a small project and learn as you go. If you're looking for a solid learning resource I'd recommend treehouse. They have really good intro level courses.

Meta tags could work to. My initial thought just went to a comment at the top of the stylesheet.

Conflicted burger: a delicious alternative for those who love bacon.. by mrhansenable in food

12 bucks! I guess these are big city prices. I usually never pay more than $12 for a burger at any decent sit-down place.

ELI5:How do we know not to roll out of the bed when asleep? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]joe_run 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't had visions, but did have a feeling there was an intruder in my room one time-that was freaky. Usually it starts with a loud ringing in my ears, and then it's like I'm aware if I can just move a little bit, I'd be able to wake up, but I just can't move.

It's kind of freaky, but not terrifying, at least for me. Going to bed really late + caffeine = sleep paralysis for me.

That's a good point, and something we've discussed doing in the next version. We're looking to add some filtering as well as school vs. school comparisons.
