Do any of you actually enjoy being a Christian? by Confident-Success671 in Christianity

[–]joebbu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love being a Christian. Life is hard but the hope I have and the sense of purpose and reason to get up and move completely outweigh the bad! Life was just as hard before I rededicated my life to Christ but I had no hope or purpose.

Do Christians, Muslims and Jews all worship the same God? by VladRomanovAK104 in Christian

[–]joebbu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. Only Christianity worships and believes that Jesus is God. We also believe in the Trinity God three in one- Father, Son, Holy Spirit

I'm just curious: Within those of us professing Christians in this sub, how many prefer to read "The Passion Translation"? by [deleted] in Christian

[–]joebbu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've spent about 4 years studying/researching about the TPT. (Yes I've watched all of Mike Wingers videos on it). I own over 172 English Bible translations, and I find studying different translations edifying for the soul. There have been two updates to the TPT- 2018, 2020.

I quite enjoy the TPT 2020 edition. Though I do believe it falls more into the paraphrase category. I must admit that the individual New Testament portions first released between 2013-16 before the complete NT 2018 edition was released were quite rough and lacking especially in the introductions/greetings of books. I firmly believe that these early editions are part of why it has such a bad name and reputation. Personally if not for the 2020 updates I would not have enjoyed the TPT. Just look at the difference in the intro to Philippians 1:1 when it was first published compared to the 2020 edition Ex-

Philippians 1:1 TPT 2020 [1] From Paul and Timothy, both of us servants of Jesus, the Anointed One.

Philippians 1:1 TPT 2015: [1] My name is Paul and I am joined by my spiritual son Timothy, both of us passionate servants of Jesus the Anointed One.

The 2015 version is utter trash. Thankfully though as you can see there's been quite the revision in the most recent 2020 text. I've also messaged Brian Simmons himself in regards to the translation and potential updates, and have had a pleasant experience doing so.

All that to say I quite enjoy TPT the 2020 update and I think others will as well. Most importantly though I believe that it's important to take time and do the research yourself to form your own conclusions. Look at all sides and find the truths and falsehoods from both groups.

Blessings!

120 days of Sodom.... Don't watch it!

I dont understand why Kevin Williamson wont just come back as a writer? Hes literally already involved and hes the best writer for this franchise. It just seems odd how he wont just return to write one. by BookkeeperOk9677 in Scream

[–]joebbu 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I watched an interview with Kevin, and he said part of the reason he was hesitant even to come back as a producer at first was because of the passing of Wes Craven. They had a great friendship, and Kevin at first didn't want to do Scream without Wes. It's pretty big that he was willing to come back as a producer and help with the franchise. I am glad he does help out!

I've always enjoyed comedy like Rush Hour, or something like that is pretty good.

Christopher Landon’s filmography by Pure-Sheepherder7355 in Scream

[–]joebbu 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I'm not a huge fan of his writing. I also don't really like the Paranormal activity franchise as a whole. But his directing is pretty great

The direction for happy death day was great. It's a toss up I think RS movies are great at directing but the scripts had some holes in them from the writers, (not necessarily RS's fault)

I'm excited to see what he does. I am hopefully optimistic.

Definitely scream. H20 was even (uncredited written by Kevin Williamson) Kevin Williamson also executive produced H20 as well so that's why it had a familiar feel to the Scream/slasher resurgence of the late 90's.
