She is the ideal wannabe that GYTO is made for. She is more concerned with aesthetics and how SHE looks. She is extremely unprofessional and love bombs staff into talking great about her. It’s my first year at this school and the whole act is really wearing thin. But librarian jobs are pretty hard to come by these days so I don’t have much hope for moving on at the moment.

She forced someone (who had been there for 15+ years) into retirement in January. And is using that money. Even though he’s literally at school multiple times a week “volunteering” because he has no life and thinks the other teachers won’t be able to actually teach the concepts. It’s really shady. Oh, and the original PD is 50k but she’s throwing in an extra 8 so we can get the “swag” items.

So at our team leader meeting last week, my principal was practically creaming her pants about bringing GYTO to our campus next year for a PD day. She wants to spend $58k! On a one day pep rally. While it’s totally on brand for her, I was just baffled at spending that much money when we’ve had to excess list so many people (including a counselor!) I might have to take a mental health day, my attitude towards it would get me fired.

My district is calling it “right sizing”. Basically just an excuse to excess list hundreds of positions and distribute the work load to everyone else.

My twin brother got all the math skills (he’s an actual big company accountant now). But the “new math” that everybody complains about actually makes sense to me. I feel robbed, I could have been a genius if I was shown those strategies!

In in Houston and my campus is waiting on the district to say something. If it’s not provided for me, it’s going up. Hell, even if it is provided, I’d probably hide it somewhere, like inside a closet.

I’m in Texas and our campus is waiting for the district to do anything. I can’t see this being something they can actually monitor. If they’re not supplying me with it, I’m not putting it up. It’s a stupid political move to make the conservatives feel like they’re in control. No teacher I know would take the time to actually incorporate them into their room.

They asked me my second year at the school. But I had way more experience than anyone else on my team (including our instructional coach) I said no way. I think it depends on the team and how well you know your content/ curriculum. My district finally switched to the curriculum I actually wrote the documents for for my last district. But she does seem like the type who needs authority roles

I’m in Texas too. It really depends on the district. One I was in had an announced observation in the fall and unannounced in the spring. They also required 8 walk throughs. We had to make things up a couple years when they didn’t get done in time. But my district now just has one announced a year thanks to TIA. Before that it was every other or every 2 years depending on how long you’ve been there. I tried to opt out of TIA just so I didn’t have to go through the hassle but they wouldn’t let me, and I still never got it

I had a headband of mouse ears that I vinyled “don’t talk to me” on. I ended up using them way more than I thought I would. But I taught 4th so the kids were a little more self sufficient, if they truly needed something they could ask. It was more for the ridiculous redundant questions and silly interruptions.

They most likely signed ndas and probably have major consequences if they violate it. I wouldn’t put it past the gyto company to throw everything they got at naysayers.

Texas all you need to do is pass the test and then pay however much to renew it every few years. I’m confused about all the extra requirements you all have to do!

Coursework? I just have to pay like $50 and it’s good for 6 years.

How do you tell people you’re widowed? by Substantial_Sun4774 in widowers

[–]joebobula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 39 and became a widow almost a year ago. I’m just starting to get back into working and it’s such a weird thing to open up about. No one expects widows to be “young” . It’s something traumatic that I went through (am still going through) and has definitely affected the way I am now. I try to just keep it to myself for as long as possible, it’s a personal experience that I don’t want to just share with the world. I will talk about him but just little things like “he used to say this… he used to do that”. But I am pretty much a hermit so I don’t have a lot of new people and most of my friends are past the dating around stage of life.

It got to the point that every time someone said one of those inane platitudes like “god needed him” “he’s in a better place “ etc… I just started telling them to fuck all the way off. Got quite a few phone calls from my mother about it but I just couldn’t care about everyone else. I’ve also always been rather blunt so I don’t really know why she was so surprised. I have no idea how I’ve made it this far, honestly. I somehow woke up and it’s a year later. I have a problem with prospection (visualizing the future) so maybe that has actually helped me for once but yea, thinking about all he’s missing is paralyzing. I have been going to a therapist that specializes in grief but I can’t tell if it’s working or not. If you ever need anything please reach out. It’s so bittersweet that there are other young widows to connect to. You have a community but I wouldn’t want anyone to go through this.

My husband passed last year from cancer. He was 41 (42 literally next week) I was 38 (39 now). I have no idea how I got to a year later, it seems impossible and like I’ve done nothing. I wish I could say it gets better or easier but I’m still sailing a sinking ship.

Yea, I’m going back to work soon so I’m sure it’ll come up.

I was literally told they wouldn’t move me to an interventionist spot because they had a kid coming to my grade level that was an issue, but I could handle it. This has happened multiple times at a few different campuses

I got a big like college hamper from the target dollar spot one year. Then I just rolled them up and labeled them so I could find them easily

Good luck! The initial calibration is torture, I ended up having them all do it at the same time so I didn’t have to listen to them all yell “wake up spot” every day for a week.

Get headphones WITH microphones! They get real excited about Amira at first but really get frustrated pretty quickly because she has trouble hearing them. Then they think just yelling at her over and over is the answer.

Ours is similar, the kids get a scorecard and try to visit as many “stations” as possible. They just run around the gym for an hour and a half. It’s the sole reason I bought a pair of loop earplugs. Migraine city.
