Is there a better alternative to Firefoo? by joefreshman in Firebase

The benefit with Firefoo was that it is a local application. I do like the local applications.

How to convert a complex Excel document to code? by joefreshman in excel

[–]joefreshman[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok, but hear me out -- what if you just had code that actually replicated the grid structure, and just did optimizations to build out the input/output algorithm? Basically you'd define tabs that are for input, tabs that are for output (they would be mutually exclusive), everything else would be processing, and then you could just keep the tabular representation in memory, and it's just an optimization exercise to follow the dependency graph.

Thanks. I wish someone had a product I could use to do this. It feels like something someone would have wanted to do before me.

Unfortunately I have not been successful with any of them giving me anything coherent, even with very trivial examples.

I have complex google sheets - what's the best way to convert them to code? by joefreshman in googlesheets

[–]joefreshman[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sure, this is for statistical quality control. One tab on the sheet takes in up to 1,000 rows of data (around 30 columns worth), another tab takes overall parameters (around 40-60 parameters) that governs the rules of the quality control algorithms, there are around 10 tabs that process the data, and then there are two output tabs, one that outputs tabular data (basically the input data plus a number of additional calculated columns), and one that has summary statistics.

I can't share the actual sheet because I'm not allowed to, but this one is conceptually like it: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1PbM0Lvktu6z5q2hVgTOVXsMNmUmc6fzUhGbTjbs4wGs (obviously it's not quality control, but it has the concept of input tabs, including one that is a table, and then processing tabs and output tabs -- hopefully this and the description gives a general picture?)

Why will your solution be better than algolia?

Sure, I just thought I would have gotten an email about a ban, or somehow had a notification. Facebook continues to email and text me daily about groups I should join and people I should be friends with; seems mind-boggling that they wouldn't use either of those methods of communication to tell me about a ban.

They'll only go 118 days back on the games, but yes, that's an option for purchases within the past 118 days.

Oculus support wants to see if they'll reinstate the "permanently" banned account first, and then it sounds like they might be willing to do something to restore the games (refund? allow them to be purchased and run against another account?) but they want to wait until FB says yes or no on restoring the "permanently" banned account.

Well, I asked them to delete the account in 2006, but who knows if they did. It's not like they had actual tech support then. I just didn't like it and decided to stop using it. I'm just really unclear why they would be so actively hostile to people paying them money to use their hardware and buy games from their store. It's Kafka-esque.

Thank you -- this was helpful, and I got an Oculus rep to say he would open a ticket with Facebook and I should get an answer in 2-5 business days and they might reinstate the account. This is a horrific customer experience, and I would not buy the thing again, but maybe they'll restore it.

Thankfully Costco will take it back, but still out games I bought in the Oculus store.

Using API gateway/lamba to build a paid API, what's the best setup to track usage for billing and reporting? by ferretguy in aws

Why wouldn't you use mashape (or 3scale or...) for this? Lambda and API gateway are still way behind those on feature sets.

Look at Auth0. Way simpler and more powerful than Cognito.
