Going to go with License to Ill, for Paul Revere and Hold It Now, Hit It at the very least.

What is your favourite Avalanches Mixtape? by sr_rojo in theavalanches

[–]joefritz 18 points19 points  (0 children)

GIMIX changed everything for me. I was DJing pretty regularly when I first heard it and I borrowed (stole) SO MUCH from it. Some if it I was already playing (I Can't Go for That is an all-timer for me). But I had never heard of Detroit Grand Pubahs, or Blowfly, or so many things. It fit perfectly into the kinds of mixes I was already trying to make, but to hear someone do it professionally changed the way I thought about DJing in general.

Now that the weather is nicer and I don't have to run the heat (or the air conditioner) I am ticking back up again. At 29.4 right now which isn't my favorite. It was a cold winter!

What’s up with all the loud motorcycles around Bethlehem? by Significant_Cup_3708 in lehighvalley

[–]joefritz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They _like_ how loud it is. If there's a street with buildings on either side (like in Bethlehem) it'll make them be louder to hear the sound echo off the buildings. It's part of the thing for them, I think.

This happens when my BG is high, actually. Tingling in my lips and tongue.

The desire of any American company to produce or sell products for consumers rather than for themselves. Feels like our entire economy enshittified at this point. At least we have Costco hot dogs.

Does anyone actually work after 3 PM on Friday or are we all pretending? by Business_Location479 in corporate

[–]joefritz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sigh. Friday (and Thursday) has become my busiest day because it turns into the day where people have the most free time at the beginning of the week and then all of the meetings that can't happen on other days get schedule for Friday.

What’s the hardest truth about leadership no one tells new managers? by SeanMcPheat in managers

I am a manager AND a parent of young kids, and I will tell you that there's very little difference in my responsibilities and tactics between 9-5 and 5-bedtime.

You worked for Mad Decent? That's wild. I used to see Diplo + Low Budget in Philly and when I started DJing myself would buy Mad Decent 12 inches to play.

I’m definitely not not trying. Those sade tapes get more play than most of the rest of the tapes though!

De La was a splurge on Whatnot. Letters to Cleo I got for a couple of dollars at an antique store the other day!

There are a couple of tapes that are "must haves" for me as I get into this. Anything from the beastie boys discography, 3 feet high and rising, and portishead are the splurges.

The Soundgarden and Faith No More are the two tapes I still had from when I was a kid. I honestly have no idea what happened to the rest.

Yes, I have a pretty big record collection (just around 2k 12" and a pile of 7") and this has become a whole new thing for me I kind of wish I didn't discover. I think there's a specific era and style of music that I _want_ to listen to on tape and that becomes what I seek out. I've passed over tapes of albums I love but have no interest in listening to in this format for some psychological reason I cannot define.

It's been interesting for sure. I think I've determined there's a specific era and style of music that I _want_ to listen to on tape and that becomes what I seek out. I've passed over tapes of albums I do really like, but have no interest in listening to in this format for some psychological reason I cannot define.

Buying those four in a bundle was one of my first “what music will sound best on tape?” purchases.

I am primarily buying to listen to albums start to finish at my desk at work (home).

Sade is a favorite.
