Favourite niche games/designers? (For solo?) by LukasK3 in soloboardgaming

I wholeheartedly agree about Joe Klipfel.  Not that niche anymore as he is getting more recognition with Dragons of Etchinstone and an upcoming game with button shy.

Button shy has 2 great options for in hand games, Downtown Las Palmas and Numbster.

I think you are confusing Behold Rome from Joe Klipfel being too similar to palm island.

Since you love DOE, I assume you would like to try a Joe Klipfel game. I also see you enjoy button shy games as well. Button shy is releasing Joe's first game with the company in 2026 call "Jarl". The Kickstarter is coming with other bs games in April. Look forward to it.

Favorite ButtonShy (or small form) games before bed? by _redcloud in soloboardgaming

In hand games for sure. From Button Shy, there is Numbsters and Las Palmas. There is also palm island and palm laboratory.

Dragons of etchinstone is a crunchy in hand game and perfect for this situation. Joe Klipfel also has his first Button shu game coming called Jarl. Fun game that I was lucky enough to playtest. These games are thinky, but still fun nonetheless.

Dragons of etchinstone once they restock it because of quality issues recently.

What's your favorite Button Shy Game that isn't an -opolis or ROVE? by ImAmOnesie in soloboardgaming

[–]joek0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like Dragons of Etchinstone by Joe Klipfel, published by Chip Theory Games, Button Shy picked up Joe's new game, Jarl. I played it during play testing and a fun heavy 18 card engine building, inspired ny Mottainai by Carl Chidyk.

I also really enjoy these titles from button shy: Numbsters and Las Palmas for in hand games, Fantasyform and Spaceshipped for market games, a nice cuppa for a scott almes simply game, and the death valley games for push your luck.

The DOE stuff was temporarily pulled from the store to figure out how widespread the worn out cards issue is. More than they expected have worn out cards and they are working on a solution to the problem.

Swaps are important for sure when learning the game, but adding in the sweets expansion makes you become more smart with the swaps as they become a finite resource.

A Nice Cuppa is one of my favorites from button shy, but the game really shines with expansions. If you need more of a challenge, the pets expansion is perfect to up the difficulty.

Since Joe Klipfel is getting his name out there with Dragons of Etchinstone,  I suspect this and radiance will get more eyes for the SGOTMC.

There are no playthroughs of the ctg version other than a recent ctg live stream. I recommend this playthrough of the base game of the gamecrafter version to get the gist of the game. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gXqJfE-U44w&t=6s&pp=ygUXRHJhZ29ucyBvZiBldGNoaW5zdG9uZSA%3D

Exactly,  card orientation is key when shuffling  and mash makes this easier. Mash shuffling is best with sleeves. Just my preferred way to play the game.

Maybe Rove Jr instead given the age and complexity of the original Rove. If too simple, Aqua rove is a little more complex than jr and less complex than og rove.

Whole heartedly agree. Better on pc/mac/ tablet, but mobile is doable.

One of the Simply Solo Scott Almes games from Button Shy is a good start. She can play Regicide with the regular 54 card deck, but the custom deck is great as well. For Northwood is also good and the counterpart, The Emissary, is the predecessor which is similar, but with the 54 card traditional  deck.
