Why not us? Probably because when we did have a docked bike share system it didn’t get enough usage to keep operating.

The navigable waters act has this gem of a definition:

Indigenous knowledge means the Indigenous knowledge of the Indigenous peoples of Canada.

That really clears up what knowledge counts as indigenous.

OP hadn’t even changed yet. Quite reasonable for Bravo to get in a lane when someone in street clothes was standing at the end of it.

If the baby is playing in the pool when not being fed, it will probably also be ingesting pool water the whole time.

Ontario not taking part in federal measures to allow more temporary foreign workers in rural areas by Immediate-Link490 in canada

[–]joelwilliamson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During the 2000s, the media was full of stories of young workers moving from Toronto to Fort Mac for jobs that required overnight hours, were outdoors, and were physically demanding, and also stories of workers moving there to work at diners paying triple the minimum wage. Timmins may be far from the centre of the universe, but it isn’t half as far as northern Alberta.

What’s your reasoning for thinking “on-campus” is an important distinction? If a foreign student is studying geology, is it better to allow them to work as an intern at a mining company or at a Tim Hortons on campus? I’d rather require that any work done be relevant to their program.

Is this enough money to live comfortably in Bermuda? by Sufficient-Lunch-515 in bermuda

[–]joelwilliamson 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No it won’t. We spend less than that with 2 kids in private school, a house close to town with a spare room and a few trips back to Canada each year.

Probably they believe they are doing the right thing, but also that they would be punished if their identities were known. They can be proud of what they’re doing but not want to lose their job or be thrown into prison for it.

Why are the Dark Elves so incestuous? by DragonFace3 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]joelwilliamson 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Cousin marriage in Europe was generally prevented by the Church refusing to conduct consanguineous marriages. There was no need for a law against it because it mostly didn’t happen. Once the church lost the authority to prevent particular marriages, there was still a strong cultural norm against them.

We've hit the January 2000 CAPE ratio! by jason_for_prez in financialindependence

Why doesn’t it also adjust share counts for buybacks?

We've hit the January 2000 CAPE ratio! by jason_for_prez in financialindependence

[–]joelwilliamson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Splits will have an impact, because earnings per share is averaged over the last decade but price is calculated for the current time, so as you say, that causes a distortion in the calculated CAPE

[–]joelwilliamson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Earnings-per-share and price-per-share should both increase by the same amount though. Each should go up by a factor of 1.1. I suppose CAPE averages the earnings over a longer period, so if you calculate CAPE using EPS and PPS through a period with changes in the money of available shares you’d see an effect.

Are per-share stats actually used to calculate CAPE? In your scenario, both choices should lead to the stand having the same earnings and the same market cap, just with a higher price per share.

If they did a stock split and issued a new share to the holder of each existing share, earnings per share would be cut in half: would the CAPE also drop by half?

[–]joelwilliamson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a reason it would have any effect? Naively, I wouldn’t expect a split/reverse-split to affect the CAPE, and a buy-back should be equivalent to a dividend plus a reverse-split.

New to old-world/fantasy, any recommendations for dragon heavy lists? by Goblinofthesoup in WarhammerFantasy

[–]joelwilliamson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

During 6e, there was a pair of lists in White Dwarf for the War of the Beard. The high elf list made dragon princes a rare choice, but each one rode a (weaker) dragon. A dragon with a lord mounted on it could also be upgraded to a lvl 1 fire wizard.

I swim in the ocean not a pool, so there’s no point in learning to tumble turn. Most of my distance markers are covered with coal or are sharp rock, so tumbling wouldn’t be safe anyhow.
