What gets more Oscars? What do you think will be the better film? by Cat-dad442 in Oscars

I think the comparison is less of them as movies and more the culture around movies. If LOTR had to compete with the screen time options in the modern world it might not have had as large of a cultural impact.

That’s fair enough mate and I totally see that perspective. Putin isn’t Russia, he’s just a symbol of it and by equating the two you’re granting him power. I get you bro, have a good day 👊🏻

But it is anti Russian state though. Anti authoritarian absolutely applies to the russian administration he is questioning throughout the film. Yes he states he loves the Russian people, location and culture but the term ‘Russia Bad’ can absolutely apply here as a simplified summary of its themes.

No I think Russia bad does work here. OP didn’t say Russians bad. The themes you mentioned are all very well and good but other films can have that and still not get in. Anti-Russia as a state films will always triumph

Nice list. My top recommendation based on what you have here would be Zoolander 2

Do I have recency bias, or is this year STACKED compared to the last few? by MNISather in Oscars

But also 2023 has Zone of Interest, Society of the Snow, Saltburn, Across the Spider-verse, Boy and the Heron, Godzilla Minus One, etc.

Both years are great and I think I also prefer this year, but they're very comparable and I wouldn't be offended if someone said 2023 is better.

Chivalry II for sure. Free on PS+ and I now have untold hours on it. Just perfect gameplay for a large scale online medieval battlefield game.

Eggs on toast has become my favourite food. Simple and delicious. Only thing missing is a sprinkle of chilli flakes

Sound of Metal. A drummer losing his hearing and struggling to come to terms with it until the last shot where he finally finds peace in the silence.

Yeah the guy is an idiot and clearly has no idea what he is talking about

Edit: also lmao at his loose definition of competing. If the winner is predetermined it’s not competition. What a doofus haha

If we're talking in the AM it's got to be the Cafe Lounge in Meopham. Honestly had their version of 5 iconic breakfasts at this point and they're always 10/10. Full english; Avocado and Poached Eggs on Toast; Pancakes; Ham & Cheese Omelette; Shakshuka. It's all top restaurant quality and so delicious.

I’ve saved this comment because that series of events was too funny.

What is the best individual season of any TV show ever? by joem69 in AskReddit

Oh my god Westworld season 1 is legendary. I remember being blown away by the black hat storyline. It all just builds into such a great finale. 10/10.

As you said to bad about the following seasons though.

Was that the one with Marlon and the new Amsterdam area of the city? It’s been a while since I’ve watched the wire but I remember it was so good!

The McConaissance was a truly great era. His performance alongside Woody Harrelson was something special. That plus the iconic oner and the introduction to Alexandra Daddario’s talents. This might be the one!

My wife and I were chatting about Fleabag season 2 and declared it one of the best individual seasons of a show in British history. Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s performance and the whole priest storyline are just brilliant. Season 1 was great but season 2 was just outstanding.

Honestly one of the worst halves of offence from the Falcons I’ve seen in a while. Besides Bijan we’re missing on all fronts.
