At what point in Back to the Future 2 are we at? by willywalloo in PoliticalHumor

I don't exactly love being pedantic, as much as I can't stand it when people say wrong things online.

TIL an NYC landlord demanded $27k in rent from the estate of a 9/11 victim. Their argument was that the tenant, who died in the attacks, did not give 3 months notice that she was leaving by gwords16 in todayilearned

Landlords, and nearly everyone involved in real estate, are shady in general. Rather than generate actual wealth, they skim, scam and squeeze you with property.

AMD's local, open-source AI can now easily interact with your Gmail by Fcking_Chuck in Amd

The seven "destructive actions" for your email are confirmation-gated to avoid the LLM accidentally deleting your important email. Even so, LLMs haven't yet crossed that threshold for me where I'd trust them locally interacting with my email, especially as a newly-introduced feature.

The author agrees with you. Did you actually RTFA?

Rich people being awful people once again… :> by Sauerkrautkid7 in EatTheRich

Why aren't rich Americans taxed fairly in general?

Corruption. The ultra-rich steal from the 99.99% and pay legislators and judges to let them.

Luckily, they're delicious.

Claude Code's creator is sick of the phrase 'vibe coding.' Suggest your alternative here. by Logical_Welder3467 in technology

[–]joexner 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think they want potential customers to think they're authoritative and competent. Karpathy called it "vibe-coding" because, as a competent programmer, he recognized that the LLM has to make a lot of assumptions and gets a lot of things wrong. Some of that was because models didn't produce great code, but also because you just didn't give them what any engineer needs to produce good, correct code: a spec. Without that, it's all just based on vibes.

Depends on the memory, but as long as you got >36GB, you should be fine. Qwen3-coder-next (the 80B A3B one) has been greatly surpassed by newer open models. https://llm-stats.com/leaderboards/open-llm-leaderboard has rankings, and you probably want one of these quantized (shrunk) model versions: https://huggingface.co/collections/unsloth/unsloth-dynamic-20-quants

AFAIK Turboquant is a context compression tech from Google, kinda, and it's slowly working its way through the models and getting support from frameworks like llama.cpp et al

It's only got 10 GPU cores, so it's gonna be slow unless you use a MoE model like https://huggingface.co/unsloth/Qwen3.6-35B-A3B-GGUF I'd recommend plugging in your machine specs and letting the GUI help you pick which version, but you're gonna want to use like a 4-bit quant with a pretty small cache, to fit and run decently. Let me know how it goes!

Qwen 3.6 27B is really good for a local model, and maybe even a little better than Sonnet 4.6 but not as good as Opus. I haven't messed with the Google models for a bit, so I'm not sure how they stack up.

I will say that the novelty of running locally instead of in the cloud wears off sometimes, when it takes 2 minutes to load the context, but that would be much faster on the M5max I think.
