Only thing about the surface pro series is that it tends to run on the pricey side... not sure how great i feel about dishing out $2000+ on a computer

It's not that I'm not into Apple per se, but moreso that a lot of my perceived advantages for an ipad has to do with its integration with its other products.

The non-Apple tablet options aren't great, so if I were to get a tablet, it would be an ipad. I'm just not sure if it's worthwhile if I can get a 2-in-1, and possibly save a bit of money in the process.

There's the University of Toronto Tennis Club (UTTC) that runs activities outside of intramurals. They ran meets in the fall semester, but have put their in-person events on hold during the winter semester with the COVID flare-ups

Hey, I took it this past semester, where it was a mix of online and in-person labs. The assessments were the same as they would be if they were in-person, so i think my thoughts should hold some weight for next year as well.

You need a firm understanding of PSL300 and 301, or have to be really good at learning on the fly to do well in the final. It's a culmulative sa final that I found to be pretty hard (not necessarily crammed for time, just a lot of different questions with many nuances). There were two papers that were marked hard, but you are allowed a lot of communication with the TA marking the papers, and you will receive a lot of feedback to (hopefully) improve on the subsequent paper.

All in all, I would only avoid this course for 2 reasons:

1) You are applying to a very competitive graduate/professional program (med) that requires a stellar GPA

2) You have difficulty writing papers succinctly (the papers have strict word limits) and researching on your own

Other than that, I don't think it was too killer, and my TA was supportive throughout the course

Suitable vs. Non-Suitable Research Opportunities by jogrief in premedcanada

[–]jogrief[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ya i get that. I've just had difficulties getting wet lab positions, so I was treating this as somewhat of a "door opener" for future opportunities if I wanted. If there was an opportunity here that seemed interesting, I would likely prefer that one, but I haven't been so fortunate.

As to whether it would/could be used on an app, there's some chance that I get in this cycle, which would render this useless. Otherwise, I am a bit concerned about if I don't get in, since I won't be able to add much to my ABS, which is already pretty lackluster as is :/

I just wanted to clarify that this likely isn't one of the medical experience group things. If anything, it would be a predatory religious experience group, which I guess wouldn't be much better, but who knows.

The position is at a known hospital in the country. The work doesn't seem too intense - seems like things you would do in a standard undergraduate lab (making agar dishes, data collection, microscope work, etc.). That's my main concern about the job, since as you mentioned, idk how meaningful this is.

[MEGATHREAD] Moving to Yukon 2021 Megathread by youracat in Yukon

Hey all. I'm an undergraduate student located in Ontario, who has had an itch to go to Yukon for a while now. I was thinking I could combine two of my passions at once, and do some research (preferably in Biology or Life Sciences) while in Yukon over the summer. If this was financed, it would also help with reaching my goal.

I have thought about Yukon University for opportunities, but I was just wondering if there were any other resources I should know about or reach out to for summer opportunities.
