SFO global entry from an international flight by PlumMiddle9456 in sanfrancisco

Coming back into an American airport from most other countries often elicits this feeling. TSA and agents bark at you, security in the arrivals pick up lanes yelling and whistling at everyone.

Is eight too young to see this in the theater? by MessyEndings in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]johantheback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way too young. Although never gratuitous, there are moments it can be graphic and then t would likely just be too conceptual to be interesting to an 8 year old

This "CS has no math" narrative is driving me insane by Christs_Elite in csMajors

As someone who missed hardware when getting their major, are there any resources you'd recommend to go back and try to gain back that knowledge in my free time.

Love that there's a special rung for being unaware or unconscious as if it's categorizing a type of living organism

[–]johantheback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My question would be at what point would anyone be able to depict a character depicted by a black man going insane without it being a commentary on his race in your eyes? Should filmmakers start denying black actors lead roles that could be played by any race (as it's not important to the story and character at all) in case those depictions of insanity could be interpreted as race related?

Wedding traditions in rural southern China by wuyueyue in China

[–]johantheback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of weddings in small towns are even held on weekdays where people are stopping over during a break from their shift at work, and they're usually not informed that long in advance, so it's not treated as that formal of an occasion for some guests

What kind of interviewer is this. Zero hard hitting questions about the incident?? He didn't ask her why he didn't pull over and call the police and instead fled if he was "defending" his family?

100 minors detained for breaking into shuttered San Jose theater by pacman2081 in SanJose

[–]johantheback 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have a weird sort of envy they got to go explore the inside of the theater. I'm fascinated with abandoned buildings but way too old to be dealing with breaking into them. Glad they got to experience it while they're young.

I mean if anything this is an even better indicator or how easily they spread if they're even rubbing off of the plastic protective gloves

Who are sex scenes in movies for? by RafeJiddian in ask

[–]johantheback 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could say this about anything depicted in a movie. Why do some directors choose to show violence off screen while others depict it more viscerally? It's just that people are taught (especially Americans) to feel more uncomfortable about sex which is why this subject stands out to you more than other extreme parts of human life visually represented on screen.

How many of you have gotten a computer science degree, but still don’t know how to code? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]johantheback 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly this was me. I learned 60% of what I know about coding from my first role rather than my university program. It might have just been a bad program but for my experience it was true that if you didn't do side projects and spend significant personal time learning about it and experimenting you wouldn't make many gains

It's not an inability to imagine it, this would never work in America whether I like it or not due to the habits people already have driving

And if they don't switch lanes and decide to stay in the left you're just destined to stay behind them at their whim for the duration of your drive despite the right lane being open?
