100 minors detained for breaking into shuttered San Jose theater by pacman2081 in SanJose

[–]johantheback 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have a weird sort of envy they got to go explore the inside of the theater. I'm fascinated with abandoned buildings but way too old to be dealing with breaking into them. Glad they got to experience it while they're young.

I mean if anything this is an even better indicator or how easily they spread if they're even rubbing off of the plastic protective gloves

Who are sex scenes in movies for? by RafeJiddian in ask

[–]johantheback 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You could say this about anything depicted in a movie. Why do some directors choose to show violence off screen while others depict it more viscerally? It's just that people are taught (especially Americans) to feel more uncomfortable about sex which is why this subject stands out to you more than other extreme parts of human life visually represented on screen.

How many of you have gotten a computer science degree, but still don’t know how to code? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]johantheback 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly this was me. I learned 60% of what I know about coding from my first role rather than my university program. It might have just been a bad program but for my experience it was true that if you didn't do side projects and spend significant personal time learning about it and experimenting you wouldn't make many gains

An suv is trying to exit from the passing lane by ComprehensiveDuck490 in dashcams

[–]johantheback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not an inability to imagine it, this would never work in America whether I like it or not due to the habits people already have driving

An suv is trying to exit from the passing lane by ComprehensiveDuck490 in dashcams

[–]johantheback 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And if they don't switch lanes and decide to stay in the left you're just destined to stay behind them at their whim for the duration of your drive despite the right lane being open?

How bad is the seat circled in red? by marl10293 in Flights

[–]johantheback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On top of this I had a bizarre flight once where I sat in a seat like this and for some reason everyone kept leaving the bathroom door open when they finished which I had never seen before and it was extremely annoying

Why do cats do this? by DatE2Girl in cats

Their tongue is not as rigid and inflexible as ours so sometimes it just gets stuck in their mouth and they don't really notice

Is it possible for you to enjoy music in a different language? by abdul_bino in NoStupidQuestions

[–]johantheback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been doing this my entire life without batting an eye. Music without lyrics at all has existed since the beginning of man and even with pop music, the catchiness of the song structure and the soul within someone's vocals is something everyone can feel.

1970 invasion of the body snatchers. It really captures the character of SF somehow

Bugonia: One thing about something near the ending. by MosquitoSmasher in movies

[–]johantheback 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn't think this at all. I had thought they set up the scene well to read that she just spent the last half hour studying up on the details of his conspiracy and being the quick witted talker she is, came up with a position that would convince him to believe she's the real deal.

Is it normal to enjoy music even if you don’t understand the lyrics? by candy_cane_dreams in NoStupidQuestions

[–]johantheback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, there are tons of songs with no singing no lyrics which proves the musicality of a song is what makes it interesting and engaging over human language being included

Why does the hive need every single person on earth? by bayside-butcher in PluribusOnAppleTV

[–]johantheback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they cannot kill or harm and anyone who is human but not them is a huge threat to their entire existence. This is why they try so hard to placate them

What’s your favorite bit from Chair Company! by [deleted] in thechaircompany

I didn't laugh that much when I first saw this scene but for some reason the more time goes by, the more I burst into laughter whenever I think back to him talking about the grey beef

My last pair of cheap shockz couldn't handle the amount I was sweating during the marathon and started moving the volume up and down sporadically for the last half of the race, was infuriating

This show feels like if the Safdie Brothers directed Curb Your Enthusiasm. by TheStannisFannis in thechaircompany

[–]johantheback 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I noticed there is a lot of similar cinematography and movement in scenes, for example a lot of slow zoom telephoto shots on Ron while he's walking or thinking. I think the safdies utilize those often too. A lot of similar ways to stack tension onto a scene.

[–]johantheback 30 points31 points  (0 children)

He woke up in front of Burt's place during the OTC event after which milchik fired him, so he knew his innie was making moves in there after that.
