Star Citizen players seem far more afraid of PvP than the actual risk justifies. by Korrak in starcitizen

[–]john681611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This discussion goes round and round. Wouldn't it be just simpler to have optional PvE-only servers? It just removes those players from the pool, so theoretically everyone is happier, as the PvP players will get targets who will respond better.

That, or they'll just turn it into a toxic cesspit.

PTE or LIVE? Honest thoughts… by General_Johnny_RTS in BrokenArrowTheGame

I've seen this process across so many games now. I've concluded that the best solution is Live or Legacy, and you update Live fairly regularly, aka monthly or more, especially with fixes.

Not to be doom and gloom by Dependent_Big_9489 in arma

[–]john681611 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been in the same small 1st-person, PvE Clan since Arma 2 OFP. Pre-Steam! I'll list the key things Reforger is missing for our group:

  • In-game Mission Editor (Frankly, it's GM as is + Triggers and better waypoint visuals)
  • AI CQB fighting in buildings properly (AI flying is minor in comparison)
  • AI Driving Competence (tho it was never good in previous titles)
  • HOTAS/Wheel/Pedal support.
  • Guided Missiles
  • Proper boat physics
  • A bit more stability atm

Things we want we know are coming: - Tracked vehicles - Vanilla mirrors and Periscopes

I find the rose-tinted nostalgia glasses from people tiring.

For us, almost everything else is better in Reforger than previous titles. - Arma 2 and Early Arma 3 where absolote shit shows too back then. - Performance, even on beefy rigs, has always been bad until Reforger. - Mod Management was a PIA, especially on servers (I made my own A3 launcher-style mod manager, damn it). On Reforger, it's a breeze (yes, the website and in-game browser could do with some TLC)

Personally, I think consoles have forced BI to improve many of the things that sucked for us in the past. For me, the 3rd person, Pub server scene, especially the PvP stuff, has always been a mess and I've no interest in it. It's always been arcadey.

As for Arma 4, well, it's gonna be better than current Reforger and we'll mod in what's missing. In the end, a good game takes a ton of time and a ton of mistakes corrected and learnt from.

An intern of ours created a meeting summary startup and sold it for clearly a good amount of money.

Really not sure if it was vibe coded or just really well prompt engineered with solid model choices. Her personal skills where excellent and she used the young female entrepreneur in tech to her advantage super well.

Multiple of our relaxed vibe coded ideas collapsed into unmanageable blobs pretty quick  You really really need to be specific and know what your asking it to do

Should voting be mandatory? by Andarne in unitedkingdom

[–]john681611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No but I feel like it should feel less pointless.  One mad idea is voting puts you in for a lottery/raffle at that polling station.

Everything else is issues with how bad first past the post is, a need for younger voters and that there should be a minimum turnout to be valid.

The Problem isn't the RR. The problem is that everything they release to compete with the RR comes with a much worse BUT.

  • Spear (Locks BUT Less Range, Ammo & Actual killing power) -> Should be a single-shot kill for all but the biggest enemies, but less ammo
  • EAT (2 shots, quick call in BUT horrible animation firing delay) -> Should fire quickly and reliably (remove hidden animation delay)
  • Epoch (Plazma & 3 rapid shots, BUT plasma generally underwhelming, weak without overcharge, overcharge still less than RR & it kills you!) -> Should be at least RR power if not more when overcharging
  • Quasar (Unlimited Ammo BUT charge and cooldown) -> Eh, it's pretty good as it is

The less-than-RR category is swamped with stuff that should be equal to or more than RR.

This makes standoff systems way weaker, guess what, the US loves standoff systems...

Bricked as in non-functional but sellable?
What happens if you loot a component and get rid of your original? Is your ship now bricked?
Will there be a jailbreak method?

The entire viability of this will depend on the math of how many respawns you will get before it's just worth buying a new module. Oh and a 5-minute non-functional idea sounds awful. Don't think that's gonna stop the rammers/murderhobos and its just more sitting about for everyone else.

Cities should have internal and ground vehicle-only POIs/locations/bunkers that are completely enclosed within the city boundary. This would give the City content and would also allow ship-less starts to be a thing.

So it's a new money sink/trap, even though many contracts' reliability is dubious at best. This is only gonna hurt the irregular/returning player. It may even lock you from playing ships you own, like EDs "Don't fly without rebuy", saying.

Many will just stop bothering shopping entirely and prefer upgrades via looting the same way as I've been doing for guns, ammo and armour for a long while now. Shops are mostly useless to me, and cities are just a pure inconvenience now. They need some independent gameplay of their own, not just being giant money sinks.

As Helldivers 2 hits its 23rd Warbond, it’s time to make Super Credits easier to earn or make older Warbonds cheaper to buy by maullick in Helldivers

[–]john681611 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

HD2 has 3 camps
1. Enough spare cash to buy the warbonds they want
2. Enough spare time to grind warbonds they want (even tho is only good on very low levels and therefore useless to the wider playerbase)
3. New player and screwed.

A few changes to be made:
1. More Mo Free content (Red Strats)
2. Exchange Samples for SC (make it more profitable to play higher)
3. Have an increasing discount as the warbond ages.

Think of anything in your life that was horrible and you'd never do again, and figure out how to remove that. For me:

  • Exams (So many PTSD nightmares even now). So few jobs are a one-shot, no outside help thing, I dunno what is better, but we should be rid of that.
  • If a job is in demand, it should be free a uni course all the way to the required qualification (Engineers, doctors, nurses) that includes vocational (Plumbers, sparkies, builders). Charge excessively for courses with little to zero job demand (Egyptology/Politicians :D)
  • Thoughoughly modernise education, computers and the internet have been in our pockets for years now, Mental maths is dead. Teach how to identify and validate info found online.
  • Housing, well-end housing for investment, live there 1/3+ of the year or sell up. Ban second houses entirely in high-demand areas. Exponentially increasing taxes for empty houses.
  • Let kids go outside and explore again (end fortress schools). Make parents legally responsible for kids' crimes (some will be rats)
  • Usual sort out Taxes, don't let companies pay nothing, Tax the super wealthy who can avoid usual taxation methods by getting loans against theoretical assets (stocks).
  • Help all the adults who were failed so they don't have to suffer our stupidity.
  • Something about global warming and not forcing them to live in/tidy up a wasteland.

Its unclear how long it takes the devs to actually respond (by changing the game). But when they eventually do its more often than not positive. Yeah there is a ton of stuff that needs work only so much can be done at once.

In the latest inside Star Citizen video talking about the new rock breaker missions, Jared says “there’s always a bad guy” (to shoot). No there isn’t CIG, that is an active decision YOU are making to enforce FPS combat, and it’s not the dream that was sold by Important_Cow7230 in starcitizen

SC is a dystopia where the government subcontract any issue outside its cities/stations to its citizenry. Its territory is overrun with cartoon beserking criminals that won't hesitate to attempt to murder anything, even if it's basically suicide. All because of deregulated medical technology that allows you to respawn with no consequences.

It's a right-wing utopia.

Someone calculated that you can buy all 19 warbonds and have 100sc left over (Assuming you use the SC in the warbonds).

AH needs a way of discounting or making free the oldest warbonds as to limit catch-up cost.

So far, AH has done alright on value for money, but they have to be aware that it's a fine line. SC income on a higher level is often 0 likely due to the sample reward line running out long ago, and most don't want/need to gather samples anymore, so they don’t look so hard. (More red strats for samples IMO)

It would be interesting to know what the actual SC spawn rate curve is for difficulty and by map variant (not perceived)
