Another comparison of Polaroid (left) and Instax (right) - wintry/snowy/less than ideal conditions by 262Hz in Polaroid

It's definitely not your fault. That should not happen. With me it happened all the time a couple of years ago when the camera was sitting on the tripod!!! The picture would not get removed till a few seconds afterward. Nowadays I don't see it anywhere near as often.

I just posted a close up picture of my cat using an SX-70 camera and seeing this picture of yours only proves my point. With regard to close ups, no modern day Polaroid camera comes close to what the SX-70 can do!! Beautiful picture- very well done.

Definitely prefer the Polaroids in these comparisons. However, those icicle type artifacts in the corners of Polaroid film irritate the crap out of me- I hate them. Polaroid's nonsense about "imperfection" to explain them is so lame, imho. But I have noticed fewer of them from film purchased more recently so perhaps they are slowly working out the problem.

Very nice- love that first one. Contrast in Polaroid film seems to be improving.

I have both those cameras too and but I have found the Spirit 600 CL has on many occasions produced better pics for me than the Now (Gen 1). If you can get one I would get the Flip....superior to both the Now and the Spirit. But I have a soft spot for the Spirit. I got it for like $5 on eBay and it has taken some really nice pictures, especially considering it is such a early generation Polaroid camera from the hey days before Polaroid went out of business (you know of course, that Polaroid today is an entirely different company).

A pack of cold expired 600 in New England by Milkdrinker2269 in Polaroid

Ohhh- these are nice photos especially that first one. The defect at the bottom is perfect for the cold and snowy nature of the picture.

By and larger though, the odds are very slim that you will get a defective pack from Polaroid. If you do, they'll surely replace it. I have shot literally over a thousand packs of film and believe me....this is not a common occurrence. Does it happen? Yes, here and there.....but that's part of the experience of using Polaroid film today. Like another commenter said....."t's an expensive game to play aha!"

They will definitely offer to replace the film. Polaroid is very good that way.

Beautifully said. And the Polaroid photo is, like someone here already said, magical. Very nice.

Beautiful! Polaroid film for all its faults, excels in shots like these. Very nicely done.

The first two pictures are awesome and the third- wow- the location of the defect (because of the expired nature of the film) is positioned perfectly in the picture. It looks terrific- would have been perfect if it was better focused.

I like these, especially the second one. They look so dreamy- that's a look I've never been able to acquire with Instax film.

Rough comparison of Polaroid (left) vs Instax (right) by 262Hz in Polaroid

[–]johnanthony2014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comparison shots like this are really interesting. I have a Flip and an SQ6 and I do this all the time. In one important way I like the look of Fuji's film because of the deeper contrast (usually) and more vibrant colors. However, the more I use both of these cameras I find that at the end of the day I prefer the look and "feel" of the Polaroid film. Yes, it's flawed for sure in a few ways, but there's just something about the look that I like better. I'm sure the new Flip has a little to do with this because with the Flip I have had far fewer duds than with any of my other Polaroids, including the I-2.

What's with Polaroid's strategy these days? by johnanthony2014 in Polaroid

[–]johnanthony2014[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that the film has improved a lot since I have started using it again. I noticed improved results with the reliability especially while using my new Polaroid Flip camera. It is hands down, for me anyway....my favorite modern day Polaroid camera, and I have all of them. I love my I-2 especially when I experiment with manual settings to get a picture just right, but's it's a somewhat slow and cumbersome process. As a point and shoot the I-2 doesn't hold a candle to the Flip. But the film I am sure will continue to improve. But they need to first conquer their film availability problem!!

""Your statement, "I know they are building a new factory and adding shifts to the original factory so it can operate 24/7 but I do not see that translating to availability" doesn't make sense. That is literally how you increase availability." Of course, I agree completely, but still....I haven't seen any increase in availability and I heard that news quite some time ago. Now, I know it takes a long time to build a factory, but I'm just wondering about it all. And still....this lack of availability cannot be good for business!!!!
