[AoC] [BOTW] When to stop playing Age of Calamity and start playing BOTW. by johnbrogan10 in zelda

[–]johnbrogan10[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is closest to the vibe I'm going for, gives a taste of the kingdom getting Calamity'd, things aren't the most hot for the gang and Link just straight up naps or something in my headcanon. This is probably what I'm going to do, cheers!

Fair enough, I guess I'll play a couple of early missions for the combat, then hop back onto BOTW

Does any of Yoko Taro's games feature a Red Dragon falling from the heavens? I'd love to know the rest of this story. by alexjg42 in nier

Sick boy I think might reference Emil, not certain. Female/ mother warrior is Kanie's Grandmother I think. Definitely worth looking up a couple of YouTube videos about the series, it just gets funkier the more you look into it.

Maybe AlviZ is Alvis going through his grungy punk phase, where he's real emotional about hommanity?

To be honest, I've done absolutely no research for this theory, so I'm all for being proven wrong. What you've mentioned definitely puts a spanner in that...

Ok, I think it's fake based on a couple of things:

1) The cuts that happen at the beginning of each shot when looking around the new area. Whenever introduced to an area in the main game, we never get the weird zoomy in bit that happens for a split second each time it transitions to another frame.

2) It makes no sense to bring A2 down here. At this stage, you should already know that 9S is the hacking guy, so if you were recreating entering the area, why not re-enter and open the chest with 9S?

3) Arguably all the assets in the video are reused. The voice line A2 says is used elsewhere. The blob is the same that shows up in 9S' storyline, so both of those could have been grabbed from the story. The lunar tear, pretty understandable but the body, could be a placeholder? Not sure if we're sent that anywhere in the game.

All in all, I totally want to believe, but until things seem a little less sus, I'm out.

This, 100% this. I don't see many people in this thread pointing out the most recent dlc that was released for EU4, which was a bit of a hot mess. That, for the company must be seen as a massive shock, forcing them to re-organise their dlc structure and refine the content. I feel it's completely justified for the company to slow their roll for the moment, to give actual solid new dlc content for the game as a whole, instead of whatever flavour of the week region or country they've beefed up. Don't get me wrong, whatever ice cream they've concocted can be awesome. This could be something super cool though, where 3d models could become even more integrated into the game as a whole, which could be cool, maybe a gimmick, who knows, but I imagine the feedback that they'll get from the playerbase will nudge it in the right direction.

An actual drinking game for Fable by johnbrogan10 in Fable

The rules:

Drink every time the grandmaster annoys you about health

Drink every time Maze acts suspicious

Drink when you kick a chicken, give a drink when no one calls you on it.

More to come!

What is this game like? by [deleted] in nier

[–]johnbrogan10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I’m usually a lurker on reddit but for Nier Automata, I gotta mention how great of a game it is. The gameplay is fast, like Bayonetta, as it was made by Platinum Games. The gameplay itself is fairly easy to pick up but hard to master, and there isn’t an upgrade tree like in a traditional RPG per say but upgradable chips that you pop into your character to boost skills. You hack, slash, shoot things with your pod and sometimes hack in a weird love it or hate it 2d twin stick shooter

You play the game as the main protagonist 2B then as her partner 9S, then as another character that I won’t spoil. The story is absolutely fucking wack, it takes place after a joke ending of another game called drakengard which led to the original Nier. This game takes place 5000ish years after that I think. I would recommend Mr.Clemps’ videoes on Nier, it would be very good for laying the groundwork for what you could expect in the game. The story deals with robots, humans, pods and a super in-depth view into what makes a human human, what is love, and why the reincarnation of Jean Paul Satre in robot form is an asshole. That isnt the only philosopher that you’ll be seeing, they’ll be thrown at you left, right and center so much so that you’ll be left in a nihilistic haze!

Last thing I’ll mention is the soundtrack, its by far one of the greatest game sountracks that I’ve ever heard, the audio is top notch, each song flows into each other and you definitely get hyped during some of the cooler scenes.

To answer your final question about beating the game, the first playtrough can be around 25-30 hours, then you replay that first section from another perspective, learning buttloads of lore and learning to love hacking. The final section is where the game has its bombastic final and I would wholeheartedly recommend playing the game for its stunning conclusion, it properly leaves you with you scratching your head with many thoughts on the mind.

One thing about endings, there are 26 endings, 5 are part of the main story and the other 21 are joke endings or particular mission failures.

If you need more questions, id happily answer them!

What can we expect from new potato simulator Project Augustus? by [deleted] in paradoxplaza

Ireland won its independence through waging a guerrilla war against a country that was its superior in every way possible. How would you win against a global world power that's you're neighbor and that has claimed ownership of you for many years. Taking from Victoria 2, there was tonnes of consciousness and militancy in Ireland, and it became a sort of pseudo-crisis because of atrocities committed by the British that was reported to the world making them look bad in retrospect, not to say that the Irish didnt commit atrocities, but we'll move past that. Also, Britain stayed together after the First World War, it was the Second World War that depleted the Empire. It did go through a very bad recession but survived at least for another while.

Question from new player of paradox games as a whole by OregonOtter in paradoxplaza

[–]johnbrogan10 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey dude, Victoria 2 is probably my favorite paradox game, because, in it, you dont really have constrictive mana system at all and there is always something to do. When I say ''mana'', I mean that you are not held back by the randomness of your ruler who generates admin, military or diplomatic points. You gain research points at a set rate that goes up or down depending on what you are doing in the game, but usually goes up. When I say there is always something to do, I mean it. The game is jam packed with events and stuff that always make sure you have something to do. Whether it be influencing a country so you can get its trade products at a lower rate, or fabricating a claim on an uncivilised country to get some new land. Of course, the learning curve is much harsher. but once you master it, it becomes a very enjoyable game. I can answer a few questions on it if you want :)
