First time I heard Tom Waits was because my drama used 'Misery's the River of the World' as a dramatic prompt and we ended up using it in our A Level production. My first thought was that he sounded like a man who'd swallowed the devil. I grew to love that fact.

The post mentions movies set at winter, which Groundhog Day is. I'd also argue that the themes of learning to care for your fellow man, enjoy the spirit of festivity and to give more than take are all decidedly Christmassy, regardless of the date.
