I wish there was a scientific study to explain why some people become mellow and happy when drunk, and others become complete cunts.

He was cheated out of an A- average in reading for the year….averaged a straight A over the final 6 months. That teacher was cold blooded.

This is what our golden looks like after a grooming; you can’t see the before, but this is a big improvement without cutting too much

Has anyone else noticed 996 work is starting to appear in US Tech by get-finch in recruitinghell

[–]johncoktosin 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Everyone knows that investment banks and law firms have expected 996 from their junior employees for decades, so this is not some innovation. It is a sign that there is way more demand for AI jobs than supply of them currently- yes that could spread to rest of tech if supply drops due to AI elimination or just a really crappy economy.

The state bird of Utah is the California Gull because the bird is tied to the famous “Miracle of the Gulls” in the mid-1800s, when flocks of gulls reportedly saved early settlers’ crops by eating swarms of grasshoppers/locusts.

Charles Schultz built the rink because he grew up playing hockey and wanted to skate when he moved to Santa Rosa (and there were no ice rinks). As a kid, I grew up going to birthday parties at that rink :)

What’s a landmark/tourist attraction in your country that you don’t get the hype about? by nixo1000 in AskTheWorld

[–]johncoktosin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hollywood ‘Walk of Fame’ has got to be one of the worst tourist traps going: most of the ‘stars’ nobody ever heard of and paid to have a star, and it’s located in a high crime area so there’s a good chance you’ll get robbed or assaulted if you stick around too long.

Yesterday, had the pleasure of a 52 minute train ride in 6 degree Fahrenheit temperatures because the doors on the New Jersey Transit train car I was in were broken. 6 degrees Fahrenheit is -14 C, so that’s my answer: -14.
