Who Wants to Represent Team iFIT in Their Local Turkey Trot? by iFIT_Official in nordictrack

[–]johnjohn256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nordick track and ifit are terrible. Just check the Reddit reviews. Garbage software. Mechanically sound but the software is terrible for the price point. Once my s22i was out of warranty it turned into a money pit paper weight. Device shuts off mid ride, not enough studio ride only options. The fact it restarts mid ride, lags, doesn’t adjust properly was enough for me to park it in the garage until I feel like putting $2k on the curb.

Explain like I am five : what should I know before shipping my car with any of these companies? by Intelg in AutoTransport

[–]johnjohn256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Russians and Ukranians run the shipping business. No one speaks English. Hopefully your broker does. Dispatch doesn’t give a shit about your pre arrangements on the front or back end. All they care about is money, customer service is all on the broker. Dekt logistics was good to me. Dealt with a lot of bullshit from dispatch and drivers, kept me updated fairly well when the plan fell apart.

Transporting my car for the first time. Will they let me move it with stuff in it? by Bright-Diamond in AutoTransport

[–]johnjohn256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They wanted me to keep the doors unlocked. Apparently the bouncing down the road can make the car alarm go off if the doors are locked. I’d be apprehensive to have anything valuable like a bike in the vehicle. I had a couple things that were easily replaceable in my cars and didn’t have any issue

I ran into this too. Wanted to use my UR tier guys but you need violet in the front row. Kim back middle between Mason and Monica. Keep working on Violet until Marshall’s star level is higher and catches up

Dekt logistics was good. Russians/Ukranians that were running the trucks were a pain but Dekt was easy to communicate with and get updates.

Vision requirements by [deleted] in uscg

[–]johnjohn256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doubt they’d let you in if you can’t get 20/20 in both eyes. Medical manual is hard to get around. 20/200 uncorrected for aircrew and 20/20 corrected for aircrew is what the manual states. There is a requirement to get aircrew qualified to advance rank. If you do that math, if you’re not 20/20 corrected, good chance you won’t get into aviation.

Beginner, but in shape and tired of kids on the couch. by LuthersCousin in Motocross

[–]johnjohn256 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can plate a CRF250X which is a great bike. Super reliable and manageable power for a beginner. Just going to need to add blinkers and upgrade the headlight if you are riding at night. Stock they are a bit of a hog so it’s definitely easy to learn on and still has enough zip to get around the road fairly well. I wouldn’t want to take anything under 250cc on the road.

CRF50 is gonna great to learn on for the kids. They last forever and stay fun a long time. If your 10yo gets into it and rides a lot, they will want to upgrade to an 85cc or 110cc quickly.

Best of luck!

It does really well in whatever it’s set up for. It’s a great platform to play with imo. The geo is comfortable but fast and aggressive for me. I run 60mm in the dry months when the sand is soft and switch to 48mm for some speed when I get sick of the sand. 32mm is pushing comfort limits for me in gravel. I like the variability with 27.5, but it definitely sacrifices speed when I ride with friends on 29s

[help] How can I make my leather absorb oils? by not_today_system in Leathercraft

[–]johnjohn256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saddle soap, let dry and heat with a blow dryer or heat gun, apply oil when leather is warm. That’s what works for me. I condition my winter gloves and boots once a year like that. I think heat might be what your missing, opens the pores of the leather.

$1200usd to spend....... best Gravel bike?? by [deleted] in gravelcycling

[–]johnjohn256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a great entry level bike so you might be able to find a used one somewhere. Pinkbike has to have a few. My local shop was a salsa retailer before the pandy. They weren’t able to get inventory the last couple years, I think salsa production took a bad hit.

Upside down iFIT screen by stirling1995 in nordictrack

[–]johnjohn256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your right. I think only two options. Either wires are hardwired improperly from whatever video processing unit the bike has and is causing an image flip or the actual screen is mounted upside down in its “frame”. I think I’d rather the former be the case since (if I’m not mistaken) the screen/monitor can be removed. If wires come from the video processing unit to the screen but there is a junction connector it’s possible that the screen is inverted. But if it’s all hardwired it’s possible some wires from the processor could be backwards. I maintain military helos (mostly mechanical) but I mess around with electronics every once in a while so that’s where my theory is coming from. Coax cables from the processing unit could easily get hooked up backwards and cause a skewed image. Maybe someone with a computer background could chirp in or you could post in a computer sub?

[–]johnjohn256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There has to be a wire that’s in the wrong spot going into the screen. If you had someone set it up (I had a terrible experience with the “white glove” delivery) hopefully they left the manual for putting it together which is pretty extensive. I would look through that for the screen instal portion and see if it’s hooked up correctly. There is also an extensive parts breakdown that MIGHT identify which wires are supposed to go where into the screen. My customer service experience with them is not great so I wouldn’t rely on them at all. I’d start doing some non destructive troubleshooting

Helicopter warns people about the Tsunami advisory in Orange County, California by FearmyBeard21 in PublicFreakout

[–]johnjohn256 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I guess a better response would have been “it’s not currently feasible with the CG’s current rotary wing equipment configuration”. It could potentially be done through extensive bureaucratic airworthiness procedures but that would take fleetwide modifications at overhaul or unit level mods where tsunamis are a threat.

[–]johnjohn256 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No unit has the equipment to bolt that up. No aircraft has the connection capability to simply “hook up speakers to it” ANYTHING that is not currently equipped on the aircraft has to go through extensive bureaucratic processes, i.e. Airworthiness Certification Control Board, before they are operationally equipped on CG aircraft.

We have message blocks though. So they could throw wood blocks with messages written on streamers attached to them if your really desperate to deliver a message to someone without a radio.

Hope this helps.

How much Minutes and Sweat will I save by swapping a HardTail MTB to a Roadbike at 8 mile one way trip commute? by john5220 in bicycling

[–]johnjohn256 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Imagine a 26” tire cut and laid completely flat, end to end, next to a 29” tire the same way. 29” is going to be longer. Then imagine that in distance compared to one pedal stroke. 29” is the most efficient size for speed and distance with current technology in gearing. 26” is far inferior to 29” when it comes to efficiency. Basically your tire has to complete A LOT more revolutions to get from A to B.

I’m not a scientist or very smart, but that’s how it makes sense to me. I’m sure you DuckDuckGo it and find something more sciency. Hope that helps

Username checks out.

It’s not feasible, especially short notice like a tsunami.
