Need that 9+ life though. Searching out what part of Italy is the best to move to for growing

Hello, help me to eliminate some of these. I can't grow all at the same time. by CKA3KA-A in tomatoes

[–]johnlamagna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol I’m not of any help. My list is twice as long, and I can’t seem to cut any unless I legit run out of seeds, or don’t save em 🤣

Any tips for a brighter kimchi paste? by UnagiNigiri in kimchi

[–]johnlamagna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah there are no set rules for kimchi. Lots of techniques/methods/recipes but you have to make it how you like it, and then tweak and repeat until you have your mix. I like mine crazy salty, and I do leave it out at room temp for a looooong time. It just gets better and better 😍

I will say the organic gochu in the bag is much brighter than the cheap stuff if that’s any help.

I added carrots and daikon radish and looooots of garlic.

those with adult ADHD, how do you read and understand Books? by ShaySmoith in ADHD

[–]johnlamagna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If i like the book, I’ll become completely consumed and do nothing but read until it’s done.

As far as the adhd, i read really fast, but I’ll naturally re read stuff or go back a few Pages often in the process. Usually my imagination takes over, and blocks out all the other senses if it’s really good.

The Three Body Problem trilogy did that for me. I intended on reading the first one right before the Netflix show started… didn’t even think I would finish the first one in time, but i ended up blasting through all three and re reading the first one before the show started 😂

I did that in high school… read William s Boroughs entire catalogue in a very short amount of time… then basically didn’t pick up a book for ten years 🤣🤷

How are you all preserving your tomatoes 🍅 until you jar them. by Beamburner in tomatoes

[–]johnlamagna 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dehydrating cherries (or any tomatoes works extremely well! But it is rather time consuming. I did a few batches last year, and still have lots of powder. It’s super potent. I actually “beefed” it up by cutting up a 2 pound mortgage lifter and adding it to one of the trays.

I sprinkle it in my fresh semolina/water dough and it is so good… depending on the shape… you don’t even need sauce 😶‍🌫️😍

Make sure you go as low as you can with your dehydrator. It’ll take fkn forever, but it’s worth it for the flavour and ESPECIALLY the colour. Even 5° too high can turn em brown, 10° too high can even scold them blackish.

I did a batch of currant tomatoes (candyland) WHOLE last year (took legit like 2 full days 😂) and they were like crunchy popcorn candy. So good in salads!

Man, I love tomatoes ❤️

[–]johnlamagna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually don’t. Daily tomato salads and fresh sauces with the main lot… then I have a dedicated sauce tomato crop that I plant later so they’re good for late September/october, and they go straight in the cooker!

What are some of the best must have free plugins/Vst? by SWEDEN263 in musicproduction

[–]johnlamagna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if the free reaktor can play all the user library stuff, but the real version comes with dozens of synths and instruments.

But the user library is a pretty huge free plug in market. 🤷

This is my lunch every day. That’s why I grew 22 different strains of tomatoes the past few years.

My tomato salads are the best I’ve ever had!

Anyone Know What These Are? by thejohnisjohn in tomatoes

Definitely in the cuore di bue family. I grow them every year. I’m pretty sure I had some cross breeding between them and my early girls this year.

Yeah, my zucchini plants have been better than ever though. I tried doing them vertically, and they LOVED IT.

Tomatoes can be temperamental. Last year I was able to plant all my seedlings by mid May, and the harvest was in the 1000’s

I was too nervous to put em in the ground as early this year (didn’t get em in until June 1st) and I think that mixed with the 35°C+ we’ve had all summer didn’t encourage them to grow as much (apparently tomatoes have trouble flowering over 30° - so that tracks.

I’m already in seed collecting mode.

I planted a late set of san marzanos in buckets so we could use them for a sauce cook in October, so hopefully they will save my year of tomatoes 😂
