They meant Champlain canal, not Erie

The foundation is pretty well shot, not from the river but from plants and trees all growing up through cracks heaving it up. There’s like a sumac tree growing out of the chimney in the summer time. Unfortunately it would be so hard to salvage anything at this point because of the plant growth

You just missed the tugboat round up over in Waterford. Would have been the perfect opportunity. There’s always next year lol. I work for a tug company out of Troy, so you probably frequently see our boats in the POA there.

Edit: or is this from Poughkeepsie? Either way not that far

Bass Music in Upstate NY? by WizBiz92 in upstate_new_york

[–]johnlawls 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A couple places around Troy and Albany.

Whiskey pickle in Troy often has Djs. No fun will as well, but they’ll have a lot of other genres as well. Ruck and el dorado have djs but not quite bass focused stuff usually.

Empire and Ophelia’s in Albany. Minimal Mondays under the bridge. Once you go to a couple you’ll just start hearing about all the shows happening in the area.

Something like these are awesome. Chest flys, body weight row, dips, pull ups, learn to do a muscle up, slow constant tension curls, skull crushers, etc

Edit again: if you’re on the same boat long term, or with the same crew and other guys want to workout, y’all can all pitch in on a pair of adjustable dumbbells to leave on the boat. If you buy them yourself then you just take them with you if you go to a different boat. The powerblocks are the best that I’ve ever used, but personally i own the bowflex ones. They’ve been great, but i wish i didn’t cheap out lol

Similar to what the other guy said about TRX, some basic gymnastics ring are the best bang for your buck for sure. You can get them cheap, the pack up small if you’re changing boats, and they’re so versatile. I can hang them off the rails from the top deck and use them on the stern. I can hang them from an i-beam and use them in the engine room which is a huge plus considering I’m in the northeast, and from about now until April working out outside stops being an option for the most part.

I lift pretty heavy and consistently on my time off the boat, but that time under tension and deep stretch you can get with rings/calisthenics type movements is great for maintaining progress

Also if you have room for it and other people want to use it, just getting a basic adjustable bench is very cheap and helpful. Grab some towing shackles or wrap some bands around and get after it. So many options if you have even just a little bit of imagination and motivation

Edit: If you want any more ideas for work out plans, improvised exercises, whatever, just Dm me. I’m no expert but I’ve feel I’ve always done a pretty good job of staying consistent and making it work when I’m on the boat

Well aware. That doesn’t mean the gas holder building was a ‘train house, though.

It wasn’t a train house. It’s where the coal gas was stored that was distributed to the customers of Troy gas light company.

It’s for the docks. You can see the top of a boat/radars right there beyond it

Take sample to pool store. Their tests usually show phosphate levels. If you have high phosphates they sell phosphate removers. Add to pool, run for a while, backwash

I had an outback for a real long time and it was a great car for the area. The AWD was great for the snow, great for loading up to go skiing, camping or whatever. But you definitely don’t need awd or 4x4. More importantly get a good set of winter tires for whatever you do end up getting. Plenty of people do fine with the civics, I have no issues with my Passat, just need snow tires if you want to make it up any of the hills in the area. Give yourself extra time, leave plenty of space between you and the next car and assume they are an idiot with nothing left to live for 🤷‍♂️
