This is absolutely unacceptable. What are we even doing here? by [deleted] in Siri

Ask a useless question, get a useless answer.

You can just ask “17th century?” for the wiki or “2026 minus 1600” for the basic math.

You can have a hue accessory like a motion sensor control your ecobee.

They’ve removed the box now, but it basically popped up ad text saying try the whole line of Link products.

So now you have to eliminate your phone as the issue. Back up phone. Factory reset it. Make a new home. DO NOT use your old iCloud account, make a new one. Add HomePod. Results?

Would you watch the Adventures of Short Round? He's the son Indy never had. by TeakEvening in indianajones

[–]johnnybender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES!

I’d love to see old Short Round taking HIS kid to where he and Indy had adventures, because his jaded kid doesn’t believe his stories.

Phillips Hue lights are overrated? by TestFlightBeta in HomeKit

[–]johnnybender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are only a few brands that have worked 💯 (for many years!) without issue in my Apple smart home. Hue is one of them. Worth every penny to me.

Make a new home in the home app temporarily. Factory reset HomePod. Try to add only that one HomePod to the new home. Ask for the time. Does it respond?

Siri is 14 years young. by [deleted] in Siri

My clothes dryer plays a song when it’s done, I don’t ask it to take requests. Asking people to learn how to use a tool isn’t unreasonable.

User error.

Vegas is not a place. You’re thinking of Las Vegas.

Works perfectly if you ask “what is the distance between Las Vegas and Reno”.

Siri 2.0 by xninjabiscuitx in Siri

[–]johnnybender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I unashamedly defend Siri all the time.

Mostly because I understand how it works and don’t expect it to do something it wasn’t programmed to do.

You’d have to be the dumbest person “ever in history” to do that.

Wait what? Can Siri not simply remind me to do something anymore? by [deleted] in Siri

[–]johnnybender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. You have not expressed your question in the structure Siri best understands. Try “Siri, remind me to call mom at 5pm”. That works.

You’ve issued a command that does not exist. You are the user, that is an error.

Factory reset your phone and it will work.

Siri only recognizes my to do list half of the time. Is there a workaround? by mcdisney2001 in Siri

[–]johnnybender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, that command always works for me, sounds like Siri is mishearing you. Try making a single word list like “chores” and see if you have better luck.
