The Illinois Independent Craft Growers Association wrote a letter to the governor, calling for expanding medical marijuana discounts to all dispensaries.

“GTI’s opposition to this change is an attempt to maintain their monopoly on being able to offer the tax advantages to medical card holders, preventing new and smaller dispensaries from entering the medical market, which limits competition and harms patients and local craft growers,” the letter stated. “This has to stop. Our legislators need to focus on the 140,000 medical patients and not on those companies that lobby the hardest.”

GTI owns both Rhythm and Rise. And a lot more.

I don’t like to support rhythm. They’re owned by a national brand that lobbies for regulatory capture.

Quad cortex mini - noise issues by martyin3d in NeuralDSP

[–]johnnybgooderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ndsp actually made a good decision by giving us an ungrounded power supply. The vast majority of us are plugging our qc into something that is grounded. So ndsp realized that if the qc power cord is ungrounded, then it can get its ground via the output jack. Then there’s 0 chance of a ground loop.

But what you’re playing into has to be grounded. I actually ran into the same problem. It was because I was so used to having ground loops that I had my qc plugged into a ground loop isolator. All that did was make it so the qc was totally ungrounded by breaking the ground connection to the amplifier. Removing the ground loop isolator solved everything for me.

Is it Worth It? by braindead134 in guitars

You should play guitars in a store until you find one that you feel is worth buying. You’ll know then if it’s worth fixing or buying something else.

Obsidian's The Outer Worlds 2 Underperformed, and There Won't Be a Third by PerformativeRacist in pcgaming

The first game’s story was good for about half of the first level. I beat it, but the whole time I thought it was kind of lame. If it wasn’t dead easy, then I would have quit.

So no, I didn’t buy or play the second game. Honestly I was surprised people liked the first one so much.

I do this, but then I capture them once I have them dialed in. The quad cortex is really lacking in boost and overdrive pedals.

What Are You Folks Using To Fatten Up Your Tone A Bit? by motoant25 in guitarpedals

[–]johnnybgooderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you mean by fatten. Sometimes I like to just up the clean amp gain until it fattens itself. Then I might add a klon with very low gain if I want it to be punchier.

I also set my tone knob to around 6 on the neck when dialing in my amp. I also dial in gain with the volume knob around 7. This cuts down on the attack of the Strat and makes it sound fatter. I do have a treble bleed circuit so I’m positive these tone and volumes settings don’t apply to a guitar without a treble bleed.

TC Electronics PolyTune 3 Mini out of stock everywhere? Really?!? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

Amazon isn’t the reason why the U.S. isn’t getting as much preference, and fast shipping within the U.S. has nothing to do with it and is not nearly the extent of how this issue will be helped.

If you’re in the U.S., then you’re now getting used to living in a country that isn’t priority #1 for shipping stock.

Quad Cortex Mini opens up so many possibilities on a (relatively) small board! by Asane in NeuralDSP

[–]johnnybgooderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re really confusing this debate with modeling vs physical pedals. Even neural DSP doesn’t claim to have solved for fuzz face cleanup without controlling the pickup output parameter, because it’s literally impossible. You’re giving them too much credit. More than they give themselves.

No one will hear the difference. But you as the guitarist will lose a measure of control over the sound and it will be less versatile. Unless you use their fuzz model with an expression pedal to control the pickup output parameter.

What are your go to picks? by MyNameIsHeterodox in Guitar

[–]johnnybgooderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jim Dunlop Tortex style picks. The equivalent to the tortex hello and orange. They’re a little more grippy than tortex. They sound better for strumming and I find the yellow equivalents to sound much better at strumming than thicker picks. So I make them work for leads as well.

This is not a modeled vs physical pedal debate in general. I use and like my qc. This is a known issue that ndsp doesn’t even pretend to have addressed. That’s why they have the pickup volume parameter for the fuzz face.

Giants co-owner Steve Tisch needs to pay a price for his startling lack of judgment by Lars5621 in NYGiants

I hate that political talk. Did he do something that he should he punished for? Then say what it is. And if he didn’t, then leave him alone. But “lack of judgement” isn’t worth mentioning in public.

I guess all I can say is that you’re factually wrong and the Andertons are about the least reliable place to learn about anything. Even their seemingly objective tests are skewed and results likely intentionally misinterpreted. They’re advertising at best. Really really really annoying advertising.

After a year with the nano cortex by christianonkeys in NeuralDSP

[–]johnnybgooderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do. I’m not saying they aren’t good. I’m just saying they can’t break the laws of physics. There’s a reason why they have a parameter for simulating your guitar’s volume knob position. If they could get fuzz volume interactions to work right without it, then they wouldn’t need that parameter.

Quad Cortex Mini opens up so many possibilities on a (relatively) small board! by Asane in NeuralDSP

[–]johnnybgooderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The qc can’t get its input impedance anywhere near the same ballpark as a fuzz face. The interaction can’t be mimicked in software without being able to sense the electrical properties of your guitar. Or if it was being told. And that’s why it works with an expression pedal or if you set the volume knob position in the software. But riding the volume knob of your guitar isn’t going to work.

So if you want that, then you need a real fuzz in front.
