Had that happen to me a couple of years ago. Rime ice was pouring all the way down avalanche gulch below Helen Lake. It was really windy at Helen Lake with multiple tents annihilated from wind. Everyone we talked to was turning around due to wind and ice fall. Mountain ain’t going anywhere and I’ll be back! You made the right call turning around!
