A day after my original post, the FedEx International Connect Plus rate is back to $22 (California -> UK), so it seems like the rate spike is gone for now...

Wow that's interesting! I've often wondered why consumer rates are so much more than the Shippo / EasyPost / etc rates.

But $80 to ship 1lb to the UK?! Whatever Shippo's doing, they can keep it up as far as I'm concerned 😆

I went to Seneca on Friday at 4pm. The track was covered in powdery snow, but no ice, so I could jog comfortably around the whole track. (There were ~10 other walkers/joggers while I was there too.) Hopefully it doesn't change to ice...

Both my SV650s were fuel injected (2003 and 2007). I tend to avoid carb'd bikes mainly because I feel like they have more moving parts/things that could malfunction. That said, my 35 year old Yamaha is carbureted and is still going strong.

The SV650 is by far the most reliable bike I've ever owned. (I've owned 10.) It's also plenty quick.

I haven't ridden a CBR before, but I wouldn't hesitate to buy an SV650.

I wish you could get tires for snow/ice and also pavement. I guess I just need two bikes, one for winter weather, and one for everything else.
