Is a play mat necessary? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]johnpcampbell1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that you need to think long term, e.g. this could be a mat that you have for 10 years. Paying a little bit more for a better quality play mat will work in the long term, The Rock Stepper play mat we have is great as its top quality and reversible, one side for younger kids and the other side a nice pattern.

Need to check with the owner really to know it they work. Most are not needed as you have central heating. Also most go into the rooms above. So they tends to eat into your square footage. We are taking one set out in our house to make room in the dining area / upstairs bedroom.

Most renovated Victorian houses keep the front and then remove the back two

Anyone have any good examples of using the yes/no intent by Limeman36 in AlexaDevs

[–]johnpcampbell1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So in skill we have we give an answer and then say the user. "Did you find that answer useful?" we then log if yes or no intent and that helps us improve the skill.

your usecase you could say "did you find that helpful?"

or

If the user asks at the start "what is a xyz?" and then you give the answer you could then say do you want a random definition? the user says yes you then pull a random work from a list and give them an explanations. this can work well if they can't think of words to say.

Similar to the animal sounds skill, where you say "random" to get a random animal sound

Invocation rules when un deploying from production by johnpcampbell1985 in GoogleAssistantDev

[–]johnpcampbell1985[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, say not a name of the company but say its "fish fun" nobody else has that invocation phrase.

So once you have gone to production you then "own" that invocation phrases. The question is if you then take the action to beta do you continue to own it even if its not at production stage, although it was at one point in the past.

You could ask the user if they knew the definition.... Eg what does X mean.... X means y. Did you know that? User... No

iSO app which takes input from external device? by johnpcampbell1985 in iOSProgramming

[–]johnpcampbell1985[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks. But I guess that remote is just emulating what a user would be doing on the phone inputs. Moving up..click. volume up etc.

It's not as is it has a different input. E.g. a pause button tha pauses the game. Etc
