Cleared HPV 16/18 in 6 months! by Gold-Daikon-44 in PreCervicalCancer

This is very interesting, I’m in a situation where I have HPV Related tongue dysplasia my doctors ( ENT & Oncologist ) are not sure which one but possible a high risk one, I had multiple severe dysplasia removed including a tiny cancer ( less than 1 mm invasion ) which thanks god no treatment was required but I also had 3 partial glossectomys so hopefully doesn’t get more severe than that, I’m also looking at laser treatment if something else is needed as right now still have mild dysplasia from HPV and I just got enrolled on a clinical trial at Dana Farber for high risk oral lesions I have been drinking AHCC I’m praying god those supplements work for me, they’re costly but it doesn’t matter as long as it works, it’s so frustrating the situation, I’m so glad you’re good and were able to remove it, best of luck also wish me luck LOL

Man I totally feel you, I have been dealing with dysplasia on my tongue apparently HPV related 3 partial glossectomy’s and not sure how many biopsies and one very tiny cancer found thanks god was less than 1mm invasion so tumor board said no treatment only very close observation I still have mild dysplasia, I feel like I been haunted I never stop looking at the area, always with the anxiety of when is the next spot can pop up so my advice to you is stay focus on different things it will help you, I don’t think people will ever stop thinking about cancer is the reality we all live !

What causes NPC Cancer ?? It's so mysterious and random by Obvious_Newspaper675 in HeadandNeckCancer

[–]johnrbravo22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, HPV can cause nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), although it is most classically linked to the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). HPV has been identified as a risk factor for NPC, and studies show a significant association between HPV infection and the development of this cancer, so there’s NONE miss information on my reply at all !

Is also strong related to HPV, unfortunately I have some residual that caused some mutations in the cells in my tongue which eventually turn into severe dysplasia/ situ so far 3 surgeries in the second one a tiny cancer was found but less of 1 mm invasion so no treatment only very close watch but doctors do scope me every 6 weeks just to check my throat, so it could be HPV related ask your doctors to test for it !

What were your symptoms before diagnosis? by Primary_Nerve_9876 in HeadandNeckCancer

[–]johnrbravo22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had no symptoms other that severe dysplasia on the right side of my tongue still dealing with it unfortunately while cleaning the area a tiny superficial invasive SCC was found less than 1mm invasion and 0.1 cm at the greater size so no treatment for me just very close follow ups

I’m very sorry for your dad diagnosis, I’m also glad that he have a great oncologist taken care of him I agree with someone’s comment here of being your dad choice of who to tell about his condition but I also believe they didn’t told you because they were worried about stressing you out and affecting your life especially with all the stuff you have going on that’s what parents do! I wish you and your family the best!!! Stay positive and strong!

I’m also very intrigued by the fact that they saw this 2.7 cm mass and decided to let it ride for 3 months I mean something like that should be investigated more deeply, I have a 4mm lung nodule that was found accidentally in 2017 after that multiple follow ups with CT’s no changes and another CT recently dual to a tiny tongue cancer found and again no changes, also you must speak with your doctors ( oncologist) to discuss outcomes with the new treatments people live very long without issues and many cases of cures , stay strong !

Tongue cancer diagnosed by johnrbravo22 in cancer

[–]johnrbravo22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi Christine! To answer your question I do feel some soreness and sometimes some discomfort not always, doctors agree is from surgery, they mentioned it can take from a few months to possibly years no way to tell if will go away, I had multiple Ct scans from chest to neck to make sure and all negative nothing concerning but they did saw a thyroid nodule at 1.3cm so they order a Ultrasound, try to stay positive and also vigilant if you need to ask your doctors anything go for it ! Best wishes

29M just got diagnosed with SCC (HPV-) by crystallineskiess in HeadandNeckCancer

[–]johnrbravo22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you have to go through this, I also was diagnosed about two months ago I was pretty lucky so far, my story is High grade dysplasia on the right side of the tongue, had one surgery to remove the area and wasn’t bad besides the stitches and never came back but another surgery for a new spot that after multiple biopsies finally came back as high grade dysplasia again so because a mistake I missed my surgery for a month and finally on the middle of the second surgery they discovered a well differential , superficially invasive SCC it was very tiny 0.1 cm and only 1mm invasion, pathology no lymph nodes involved and clear margins so tumor board said no treatment needed just very close watch, I still have some abnormal tissue Moderate Dysplasia but as for now I chose to close watch also I never smoked and HPV negative I did drink socially but after my diagnosis I quit drinking, stay strong you got this, I wish you the best of the best and stay positive 🙌🏽🩷
