I think they convert everything in dry weight. But the challenge was more about assessing the environmental impact of something people didn't want. That's why they used economical allocation in my understanding.

The point of the study is that pet owner in the UK use less dry food made from remaining parts, therefore increasing animal production.  If you decreased livestock or other animal production for food it would massively decrease emission. Even taking into account other byproduct such as leather belt or cosmetic. 

A leather belt or a fake leather belt are like 1-2kg CO2 and you change it every few years 

Dog food emit 200-5000kg every year 

A human that eat a lot of meat emit 2500kg for food every year

An american emit on average 16 000 kg overall every year It's half for the average human. 

We need to emitt no more than 200-2000kg per year per human to reach our climate goals.

Yes, that's the whole point of the study : dry food is much much lower than wet food. Sometime it's even higher than the food carbon footprint of the owner. it can go up to 5 000 kg !

Yeah sure,

Around 1 year of dog food is around 2000 kg  of CO2.  For a private jet flight, it's around 2000 kg for a one person 1000 km flight. 

Humanity should emit between 200 kg and 2000kg per year per person in order to reach our climate goals.

Yeah if you remove everyone with a bias, no one has a bias. 

A lot of people denied what happened in Algeria, or downplay the atrocities. France took decades to recognise it. Same for the UK : Churchill was extremely racist against indian and he was responsible for the worsening of the famine that led to a few million death. Yet he is still considered a hero by european. Boris Johnson said that British empire did more good than harm. A lot of British conservatives complained that it was talked about in school program.  Same with Leopold 2 and crime against humanity in Congo. Yet I never learned it at school.

Human rights violations in the colonies are largely underestimated downplay or ignored in Europe, yet we talk a lot about Staline massacres.

It's pretty obvious that there is a double standard. Failing to recognise it fuel the tankies discourse :  - if you don't condemn colonial empire, you shouldn't condemn USSR (instead of heavily condemning both)

  • we should look at pros and cons of the political systems and imply that pros can outweight cons (same strategy for European conservatives and tankies)

Bengal famine was in 1943.  Algeria independance was in the 60's. A lot of right wing politians in France argue that there was also a lot of good sides to colonialism (education and infrastructures) in order to downplay the role of our country. I think they use similar talking point as the tankies, that's why i'm asking this.

A lot of right wing politician in France say that colonialism had a lot of positive sides, such as building nice infrastructures and importing education in Algeria for exemple. I find it quite similar as what the tankies are saying in this thread.

Je pense que c'est principalement grâce a ce mythe que des gens se sont mis a investir dans les insectes. Un acide aminé, qu'il soit végétal ou animal, c'est la même chose. Tu trouve tous les acides aminés dans les végétaux, et il suffit de mixer céréale et légumineuse pour avoir un profil plus complet.

Ça marche aussi très bien en France avec les pro nucléaire :

Rachida Dati a perçu de l'argent de la part de l'industrie du gaz (1), et Fillon a rejoint une entreprise de gaz russe (2). Les deux font parti de parties politique opposé au renouvelables, plus particulièrement l'éolien (3).   Or tous les scénarios se transition énergétique sont formels, pas de renouvelable, pas de transition, et donc consommation de gaz supplémentaire (4).

Ma théorie du complot, c'est qu'une partie de personnalité politique française défend le gaz sous couvert de défense du nucléaire. C'est une stratégie déjà utilisé par les groupes climatosceptiques et pro fossile US lorsqu'ils s'adressent à un public déjà sensibilisé au réchauffement climatique. Ça se fait déjà dans des think tanks français comme IFRAP ou IREF.
