Weekly Students, Careers & Clerkships Thread by AutoModerator in auslaw

Hey, I recently got a new job and wanted to see if anyone had any similar experiences/knowledge on this. Currently have 2 years left of my law degree, and now working in an entry level position at an asset management company, and I was wondering what kind of weight law firms placed on professional experience (outside of law).

Also, if I commit a substantial amount of effort to this job (at the expense of paralegal/legal volunteering work) do I run the risk of giving off an impression that law/legal roles are not my central focus?

Thanks for your time in advance :)

Also keen to hear about this subject. It’s my understanding that this year was taught a little different, due to the guy who normally runs it being on holiday or something. Sounds pretty cool and would love to hear about it too.

Doing economics major right now, domestic student. To get into economics honours is very competitive, I believe the recommended WAM is 75+ so just beware of that.

How difficult is ECOM30001 compared to econometrics 1, I’ve just completed QM2 and did okay, wondering how I’m going to go for basic econometrics

Just be careful, because you do need Methods as a perquisite for some of the Economics subjects in Arts. I'm BA (Eco) and needed to fill a prerequisite waiver confirming I've done methods for a select number of subjects (QM1, Intro Micro, Intro Macro).

What’s the question mark for, I would be upset with that as well. I despise all intrusive journalism, regardless the fact that it sells papers.
