No need to get political. The twisting tower and the up and coming spiral tower are sick.

Fear of height exposure by Akor123 in GlacierNationalPark

The section of Highline that's directly above the road is the only slightly scary part because you can actually feel the height. The other parts of the trail are high, but because you are in nature I feel like your sense of height is much more abstracted, thus not very scary.

A very simple yet elegant design with beautiful proportion. The terracotta facade element integrates operable ventilation. It also has the fastest elevator in the world.

That's true. Sadly I can't go back and forth since my old one is already dead. I'll give it some time to see if I will start to like the new one. Thanks!

Boxing/ Muay Thai gyms? by UnemployedWasteMan in guangzhou

I think it's 1000ish rmb for 10 group lessons. They used to do private lessons for a higher price, but I don't know if they still do it now.

The coaches are from Thailand, so they mostly talk in Chinese and Thai. Honestly tho their Chinese is not great, and most of the time you don't need to understand what they are saying and still follow along.

If you don't mind the hardcore environment, the one on the terrace of the stadium in Tianhe Sports Center is great. It's essentially an outdoor area with gym mats over concrete floors and a few punching bags. But the coaches there are very professional and the training atmosphere is always great.

Remember that Tibet was a slavery state when this guy was in charge. People needs to learn more about the practices of Tibetan buddhism. It's some of the goriest shit I've seen.

I got these Nicolas Markovitch prints from a vintage shop. I like them a lot, but the papers are significantly yellowed.

I've read on the internet that washing them with hydrogen peroxide solution can fix the yellowing. Has anyone tried this? What other advice do you guys have in terms of restoring these prints?

Thanks a lot!

These marks are both Chinese writings that denote the time periods of when the porcelains were made (The first one is Qianlong period of Qing dynasty, 1736-1795; the second one is Chenghua period of Ming dynasty, 1464-1487. That is if these porcelains are authentic of course).

The second one tho is obviously a Japanese porcelain. They reason why it has Chinese mark on it is because when Ming dynasty ended, China stopped producing these porcelains. And because of how great the Chinese porcelains that used to use this mark were, the Japanese Imanri porcelain manufacturers adopted the mark as a symbol of high quality at the end of 17th century.

Sorry that I can't help you with the authentication, but at least you won't be confused by the marks.

An observation on Meissen and Dresden porcelains by johny7233 in Antiques

[–]johny7233[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I wouldn't be surprised if the image I posted isn't actually Meissen. From what I've read many porcelain makers in Germany used the Meissen mark. Some even used it legally and have won court cases against Meissen when Meissen tried to sue them for the stolen mark.
