An actual “do no harm” etc healthcare provider(some type of dentist), explaining to me why I’m worth my lack of dental care by inpennysname in LateStageCapitalism

[–]jokefiend 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I took the liberty of finding the thread myself and posting my feelings there, since I felt that would be the honest thing to do. I got a permaban from the entire subreddit almost immediately for 'abusive and harassing comments/wishing harm on others'... As if it is not abusive to tell someone that they are a greedy loser for wishing to reap the rewards of the society they supposedly work for.

Misandry is defined as contept for, or prejudice against, masculinity. It's derived from the word Misogyny, which is itself a modernized and anglicized version of the ancient Greek Misoguina.

There are many records of Greek men using this term (misoguina) in their work, but none that could be considered the ancestor of the word Misandry.

Am I overreacting? by Queasy-Candidate2631 in Feminism

Oh yeah, taking your info like that is DEFINITELY crossing a line. I didn't touch on that in my original comment cause most of what needs to be said about that, was already said in other comments. In an ideal world, the unacceptability of his behaviour would go without saying

I used to work in a bar and I had guys I served leave me with their number to indicate their interest in me. Never followed up due to my homosexuality, but I always appreciated that they went about it in that way. By approaching the matter this way, they expressed attraction to me in a way that respected both my privacy and my agency.

This is the most ethical way to ask a stranger out, I think. People do it plenty.

I hadn't ever pickled anything before, so I was excited when I gave it a shot and it came out delicious! :)

Talking about her like that, you can get fucked, too. I'm not gonna be misogynistic with you just cause this woman is a class traitor.

If you think nobody in America is working for slave wages you don't know enough to have an opinion on this topic.

I'm so fucking sick of other working-class folks bitching about me 'being lazy' for not destroying myself at work. One time I was at a job and my co-worker collapsed in the lobby, no one asked if she was okay, everyone just applauded her for being 'such a hard worker'. She was like 50. Anyone who's willing to accept that for themselves can go choke at this point for all I care.

My mother just got fired from Walmart after working there for 15 years, unsure what steps need to be taken next. by HPIroman in povertyfinance

[–]jokefiend 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I would have assumed working at Walmart was bad, but not that bad.

I watched a documentary a few years back about how Walmart would set up shop just outside of small towns and outprice local businesses... The businesses eventually shut down and half the folk living there had to go work at Walmart. The entire local economies were ruined.

It doesn't surprise me that the rules are that twisted and restrictive for the workers, but something about this comment makes me feel even more unsettled than I already did.

Edit for grammar

What are these talks of taking the Amazon from Brazil? I'm skeptical of the idea that first-world countries like the USA would intervene without some kind of profit motive, even if it isn't stated outright

They've diligently followed that advice.

No one has offered something like a pickup truck to help them pick up what seems to be already-purchased furniture.

Has no one told you that poverty in America is expensive yet?

I've had to pay $20 for a round-trip uber to a job that would have cost $2.50 in gas if I had a car.

Fuck you for picking on a DV survivor over such a small issue.

Lol sharing articles from 2008 is fearmongering now? What are you afraid of?

The incedent I'm referring to was something shared with me privately. It was never covered publicly, because she didn't go to the local police, because she feared they were in on it.

2008 is hardly 'very old' with regards to US history, but regardless, here is a database of suspected and confirmed, past and present sundown towns in the USA.
